Hey man

Very nice comparison, they both sound very good to me I think its hard to say one is better than the other. But for a timmons tone I would say the cornford matches it better, the splawn definately has way more balls though as the cornford sounds quite round.

Damn youre one lucky soab having 2 of the best amps to play on

yer the harmonic content I feel is similar and the overall tone.. but the splawn cuts more has much agression and fire, where as the Cornford is big sweet and round..

interesting, i think i liked the splawn clip better. i didn't think the cornford sounded like what i remembered... if anything, the splawn sounded more like what i thought the cornford sounded like. :?

Liked both clips, the Cornford sounds very Soldano'ish in comparison...

Is that a Hurricane??

Very nice tones and playing on both. I prefer the Splawn too, whereas I could imagine that the Cornford actually cuts better as it has more mids and thus more substance - a bit like the Diezel vs the Bogner.

The Shiva has more directness and mids, the Diezel more bite and bottom end and seems a bit heavier.

Probably the Splawn through a G12-65 would be a perfect match (I am now playing the Diezel exclusively through my Rola 12-65).

cheers hunter, yea the G12-65's are ideal for the Splawn and the V30s for the Cornford.

The cornford sounds a LOT better in real life.

Can't wait for a decent recording of it actually.

I miss playing with it :(

This vox valvetronics just doesnt cut it...

I preferred the Cornford I think. Shame they're so bloody expensive.

yeah, when i finally got round to trying a soldano (an avenger), my first thoughts were "this sounds a bit like a slightly more modern-sounding cornford..."
