Title: Help Picking my pickups
Post by: Arch Angel on July 17, 2007, 07:11:27 PM
Hey Guys,

I forgot my username and pasword, yeah, been away for a while...anyways I'm gonna order a set of humbuckers for my new guitar and I could use some advice. Naturally I emailed the master himself, but a second, third and so on oppinion is always good I think.

So I'm playing sevenstring, this particular guitar is a Schecter A7 diamond series, fixed bridge, stringthrough, sevenstring guitar. I'll be using it in drop-a tuning, so that's standard sixstring with a low A added.

My style is metalcore riffs, rhythmic, melodic and sometimes kinda fast distortion parts, blended neatly with about 40% overal clean/akoustic bits. So it's like Opeth without the deathmetal but with metalcore-ry riffs. Loads of palmmute and stuff, elseway it gets messy, and real low every now and again.

I'm using a vox-valvetronix-tonelab-SE for my effects and amp-sims and a 200 watts amp by Marshall, a valvestate, which I hope to replace by some real-tube action soon, probably a stereopoweramp. I play through 2 4x12" cabs and 2 1x12" cabs right now.

I already own a guitar (sevenstring too) with a nailbomb (bridge) and a coldsweat (neck) and I'm looking for an aggressive but clear in the low stuff pickup for the bridge, and something to go with that which will give me a real rich and warm clean/akoustic-sim sound.

So, what do you guys recon I should pick?

Thanks for the advice, but (though this might sound like blasphemy to you) I don't really like the sound of the warpigs....metal-wise that is. I might just take tim up on his advice, he knows best after all I guess. I would however love some Blackdog Metal-clips, cuz I've only heard one or two metallic soundclips so far....

Cheers, Arch Angel
