Just for fun, assume you've been given £1000 credit in the music shop of your choice, what would you buy?
(USD$ 2055, Euro 1485 at current rates)
-
Buy lots of strings, leads and plecs - unfortunately thats the only reason i ever go to guitar shops now, and thats only when i forget to order some in
-
Powerball.
-
pay off these mother$%ing court charges, then use the rest for the A&B category drivers licence, save the rest for a motorcycle
-
Call Jonathan at Feline. :)
-
A Matamp half stack :D
Actually, I'd rather get a guitar... I'd get a Yamaha SG.
-
Put it towards the two new Ibanez RG20ths I'm picking up this week...
-
buy a les paul
-
If I can't just grab the money and disappear, I'd buy something to sell it and invest the money. ;)
-

Same - a nice korina lion for me :D
-
Completely not answering the question, but I wanted to show off:
My parents gave me £5000 for my 18th, which they'd been saving for me since birth (good job they're good at those stock market things eh? :P ).
Anyways, I bought one of these (http://www.alienware.co.uk/product_detail_pages/Aurora_m9700/aurora-m_overview.aspx?SysCode=PC-EU-LT-AURM9700&SubCode=SKU-DEFAULT), and saved the rest.
-
Probably an amp.
-
probably get a Marshall half stack
-
Definitely an amp, I have too many guitars and I'm never buying one ever again...
Probably a Cornford of some kind.
-
If it could be in more than one place then I'd get an Engl 4x12" to go with my Savage & this Raimundo 630E (http://www.classicalguitar.co.uk/onlinestore/classical_guitars_instrument_selection96.html) that I played at LGS...
-
I'd go the amp route, I'd like a head + cab arrangement. I'd probably try to get as good a head as posible and a cheap cab to start, then save for a better cab.
-
I would buy the DV8r thats in music ground for £500.
always wanted a white V
-

About time you got them.
-
A single humbucker strat with side mounting jack

Indeed! They're going through QC at the moment...

At least you wont have to worry about getting stung by the import tax man. I've got a ding in my DY already :(
I would get the Hello Kitty Fender Stratocaster in pink, get an Original Edge Locking Tremolo put in. One BKP of course and replace all the hardware. Put in a kill switch and some other goodies like LED's inlays and a laser on the headstock. I'd remove the Squire logo too...
Thats me got myself one slick San Dimas-esc Super Strat.

-
save it, or buy a new laptop...
aren't i boring ;)
if it had to be guitar stuff i'd get a nice p90 les paul copy and pimp it up, then spend the rest on handwound pickups for my guitars that dont have them.
-
:D Err ! I have got a £1000 to spend i`ve allready bought an Orange "Tiny Terror" i`ll be ordering a Matamp "Little Rock" & a sloping cab to run `em both through that comes to £900 & i`ll have a hundred over for curry !
As it happens i`ve also bought a PodGx so i can start recording onto computer. So that only leaves £50 for curry ! :D
:D 8)
-
Buy some kind of second hand les paul and buy a pre-wired set of Bareknuckles for my Strat
-
Buy a Marshall Vintage/Modern halfstack and use the change to get a MIJ Les Paul
-
Put it toward my super-amp that I'm always planning on buying. Powerball is favourite so far.

wow, your local music store has undergone some pretty extreme diversification!
and deg0ey- im extremely jealous... alienware pc's/laptops just look SO cool.
i'd probably buy a guitar, some pickups, and a hotplate. could probably just squeeze all that into £1000.
-
Probably a Cornford of some kind.
+1, i'd probably put it towards a hurricane or something.
problem with the question is it says "shop"... there's very little in shops over here that interests me very much...

Yeah, I should have stated my intention better, the idea was that your purchase should be to do with your rig / guitar / music or similar. I should have just said 'To spend on your music gear'.
If I actually had £1000 I'd pay off my overdraft, but that's not as much fun or as interesting reading.
-
Right now, no question for me - Marshall JVM head and some sort of decent 2x12 cab.
-
I would probably pick up an Ibanez RG2228. Two more strings! I could add 33% extra "suck" to my playing with ease!
-

oh, ok. sorry about that. I'd either put it towards that cornford, or else get a couple of edwards. Probably a couple of edwards.
-
I'd get the money back and then get my roof fixed
-
Buy a BKP Black Dog Bridge and spend the rest on beer.
-
I'd put it towards a Mesa Boogie Lonestar.
-
hand built amp..maybe jtm45, a mesa..etc or put towards a feline tele or explorer
-
http://www.carverdoug.com/wang.html one of these, a decent bodyguard and a lawyer, so I could beat up chavs with impunity.
second thoughts, might need more than £1k to fend off all the assault charges, lawyer wise.
-
z-vex nano + engl 4x12 bedroom setup 8)
-
An amp, a cabinet, and a decent delay pedal. Then spend the rest on a box of rice for dinner.
-
if I can have the £1000 in cash I'd shove it in my cash ISA, else I'd have my engl fireball + 2x12 v30 cab I told myself I can't buy until I found a new job, I live in an area with lots of unemployment and few jobs :(
-
Gotta get that JTM45 ceriatone kit for Martin to put together for me...mmm then I'd get parts for my bitsacaster
-
H&K anniversary amp £400, white fender strat prop mexi- £350,that will be pimped with a Mother's Milk set and red pearliod scratchplate £200 ish. Simple but still awesome. And slightly over budget. $% it.
-

Seymour Duncan Blackout for my 7 string
2 sets of Bareknuckle strat pickups
6L6 valves for my Laney
Have all my guitars set up
Get my Ibanez's bridge sorted out
Some kind of delay pedal
-
Tiny Terror + 2x12" Cabinet

I think he's allowing £100 in pizza costs coz he's too busy playing to cook :)
-
Not to worry, you could buy a pretty decent calculator for £50...
oh, and to second what I said originally- i'd definitely buy another couple of edwardses for £100. Mine came last week and it's sweet for the amount of money I paid.

£50 each? I'll buy 10!
Glad you like it though Dave, they're great value aren't they?
-
Gonna change my entry as I've bought an amp head and cab now (for a lot less than a grand).
Now I think I'd be speaking to WezV about a custom to fit around an Irish Tour set.

I think I edited the amounts but forgot the totals. I fail at counting.
I had a bitching graphics calculator, can't seem to find that bad boy. As you can tell.
