If anyone remembers the 80s schecter strat very much a high end exotic wood afair somewhat similar to the Pensa Suhrs in appearance..
And a good olde 76 Telecaster..
Which would you buy?
-
If i were you i'd buy the Tele. . . and tell me where the strat is for sale :D

haha, well im gonna try em both out at dinner time today and come home with one of them.. Just not sure which one I want yet.
-
Must be Musicground??
-
Strats suck - Tele every time.
-
no it's not music ground.. behave! u buy that guitar before me and i'll hunt you down and chop your furry little nads off!
-
+1 for the tele... but thats just a personal preference obviously ;) i love that tele bridge sound.

Not that I don't like a Strat's sound but I hate the vibrato and control lay-out.
-
heretics all of you - you will all burn!!!!!!
Those schecters were pretty nice strats - whereas 70s teles were big planks of CBS cost cutting. I'd go with the strat or get a new Mexican Fender Baja Tele.
-
i've heard some bad things about the CBS teles now.. it's a shame, i'll try it theres bound to be a good one out there..
that schecter strat is a freakin monster guitar!
-
Definitely the Tele, if it's a lightweight. Unfortunately most of the 70s ones weigh a ton and have thick, tone-robbing plastic finishes.
Some of those old Schecters looked nice, depending on the finish - don't suppose you've got a pic James?

the telecaster design itself was all about cost cutting!!
There are some fairly nice 70's fenders out there, and some duds as well - always worth trying them out first
-
I've played 70s Fenders in shops that were heavier than the Les Pauls they had in stock (ouch!).
I do like the sound of Strats, but the feel of them and control layout isn't me - that bridge p/up volume gets in the way too much for me.
I always think the Strat bridge sound is the weak spot, thats where the Tele bridge scores - it's still got twang, but it's got plenty of grunt too.
-
Single volume HSS hardtail strat ftw!!
-
Play both and decide based on which feels better and seems most natural in your hands
-
+1 on Feline, and what sounds best.
-
It ironic isn't - Leo Fender made a cheapo plank guitar in the tele - and CBS make it even cheaper still - and now they go for a grand +

Tried a Gordon Smith Graduate Cherry Burst..
Looks like a Les Paul standard but this one has the full Tune-o-matic bridge and maple capped head stock.. Just stuck a Nailbomb in the bridge and it rawks!

I can't even believe that the question is up for debute!
The Schecter is a very rare guitar and I would say the best strats and teles ever made, they're rare, they're brilliantly made, they fell and sound amazing and they're beautiful.
I you find an original Tom Anderson era SCHECTER STRAT then your laughing, no contest.
Here are some of my 3rd generation California Schecter Strats, I have modded them all quite alot from stock.
