Title: Pickups for Ibanez RG
Post by: Mystical Potato Phil on July 25, 2007, 04:33:48 PM
Hello, I've just started to look into getting a replacement set of pickups for the stock ones in my RG 1570 (basswood body, HSH config, but just looking at the hums for now). I was looking at getting some Dimarzios, but I was recomended by some guys on the jemsite forum that I should check out Bare Kuckles...so erm...thats what I'm doing.

I really don't have a clue about bare knuckles though so I thought I'd join the forum and ask you guys if you could give me some advice:

The Neck pickup is the most important for me as I mainly use it for soloing. I want a warm, round, vowel soundy and kinda flutey tone, which doesn't thin out on high notes. I would also like it to have decent harmonic response and be tight on rhythm playing too if possible (yeah, I ask alot).

I'd like the brigde to be a big contrast, screamy and very harmonic but tight rhythm and not muddy or tinny.

I mainly play old school metal eg. Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Metallica through to classic rock eg. Pink Floyd, Queen, King Crimson, but I also dabble in blues etc.

Thanks very much for any help you can give me, I know I've rabbitted on alot but I really want the best pickups I can find. Thanks again.

Phil.

I would say a set of Holy Divers. I highly recommend them for RG's.

I am thinking along very similar lines, although I'd thought of a Holy Diver for the bridge and the eternally popular Cold Sweat for the neck.

Certainlye-mail Tim as well as asking us.
