Finally after a month long wait ( my luthier did them for me, the Carvin routes are small and I have a gorgeous quilt on my 7 that I didn't want to ruin).
My initial thoughts.
the Cold Sweat I put in the neck just kills. It's "Perfect" just what I was looking for, smooth yet still has a touch of that "glassy" sound that I love and gainier IE: louder than the stock pick up that I had in there.
The NailBomb in the bridge however I found to be a little dissapointing. Not that much different sounding from the Duncan SH-5 that I already had in there. I guess I was expecting a balls to the walls difference in tone and sound and I just didn't get it. I ran my guitar thru my JSX tonight (and don't get me wrong it sounded good) but I was a little let down.
Tim recommended both the coldSweat and the Nailbomb, maybe the NailBomb's not a good match for the JSX? I ran it with moderate gain
what's this pick up want?
Oh ya I almost forgot I put in an OFR trem to replace the licensed one that was in there too. big improvement.

Hmm, try playing with the pup hight a little.
I didnt hear much difference either when i changed my stock ibanez pup, my theory? they're about the same output and have a similar charictaristic as the stock pups but a much higher quality sound.
At first i was dissapointed with the lack of sound difference, then i realised im the worst guitar player on the planet. I now play ukelele, waiting for tim to do a ukelele pickup.

i too noticedn this when i changed my stock ibanez v8 out for the miracle man in my rocket roll way back in the day..... but i just highered the pup and the difference really was drastic.

yea play with the hight of the pickup it makes such a huge difference with bkps they are so dynamic

OK I'll give tht a shot tonight after work.

he does bass pickups on request - half a p-bass pickup might be perfect!!!
-
Yeah, mess with the height and the screw coil height as well, they might need to be slightly higher than stock pus

well I got home from work a little early and played around with this thing a
bit and found..........
Raising the pickup up a bit really brought this thing to life!
I had to "Re-EQ" my amp a bit , cut the bass and raise the mids some , but I really like what I just got out of it. Seems to handle all levels of gain pretty well.
I'll try and post up some clips of something (I have a JSX and a 5150) so I should be able to get some pretty heavy clips up.
