Title: Neck PU for Semi Hollow
Post by: Barney on July 26, 2007, 10:02:23 PM
Hello!

Noobie here.
I would like to ask for your opinion.
I'm going to get a custom semi hollow jazz guitar built for me..(as soon as I get all the money together.)
I need only 1 pickup for neck position.
I thought a nice gold covered Mule would do the trick. I'm looking for a classic warm round humbucker tone which is really clear also..

Thank You!

Or Stormy Monday maybe?  A tiny bit less powerful than the Mule, but perhaps with more clarity.

Stormy Monday !
Warm AND incredibly clear at the same time !
Let all the nuances of your picking technique come through.

have you considered the manhattan p90?? i know it's not a HB, and i dunno if tim still does it, but it's meant to be designed for hollowbody jazz guitars, alnico 3 magnet with a 'woody' feel if i remember correctly

i think there's a pic in the gallery somewhere

=]

[welcome to the forum btw]

For a hollow body, i would also check the MQs !

Here's what Tim said when i told him i was looking for a warm sounding Jazz neck humbucker
with a detailed articulation for an 82' LP Custom :

Stormy Mondays are good and often surprise with the amount of power they actually have..........MQs are awesome.............if you're after articulation rather than a fat 'jazz'clean I would avoid the Manhattans but the MQs retain a lovely edge to them and don't lack warmth either.

I did get a SM and i think it's the best vintage humbucker i've heard.

Good luck ;)
