And it's the one I most wanted - the Road Flare Red one :D

First impressions? The 20th is better than the originals. The pickups are hotter and scream more, it feels fantastic to play and it hasn't faded at all. Plus I've got #1798 - so close to 1987! All the right numbers, not necessarily in the right order!
I can't find any flaws in it so far, but I'm just about to play it and check it out for the evening. The guys in the shop were salivating and loved it! The setup out of the box wasn't too bad. The tech at the shop lowered the bridge a bit to bring the action down a touch but the nut was fine. My Desert Yellow will be another two weeks unfortunately, there must be a hold up on them. Maybe I'll get #1987 if it gets delayed even further...

RGs aren't my thing, but did I just feel the tiniest little burp of GAS...?
Waiting to see the new family portrait when the DY one turns up.
-
Nice one Twinfan!
I saw a RFR yesterday, it was sooooo bright 8)
Can you believe they are made in Japan but are only now being advertised here, and shops have only been able to order them in the last month or so?
I have been visiting every major guitar shop in Tokyo since January and have been met with blank expressions when I mentioned a 20th anniversary model.
Anyway I ordered a DY about 5 weeks ago and it arrived at the shop yesterday, I tried it in the shop and it's fab, the colour is truly 80s (I'm having it delivered tomorrow). My serial is 1972 (two years off my birthdate) so only 15 left by my reckoning.
-
So production must have finished then.
Bob over to RG20th.com and get it registered matey :D
-
umm... errr...
what does "DY" stand for? :stupid:
Looks cool twin fan. I honestly wouldnt have picked you for an RG guy. I had a look at the YCDC site the other day and I thought you'd be a Gibbo style all the way.
Shows how much I pay attention
oh +1 on the plastic mate

ah cool!
well i hope your DY arrives in just as good a state. I cant wait to see them all together in a picture.. :D
-
Jp.
DY is Desert Yellow as stated above.
I can't play an RG "properly" for toffee, but they're something I lusted over in my teens in the eighties. Bit of nostalgia crept in a while back ;)
I'm a Gibson man really.
-
Very nice, I just picked up my first RG550. Not the 20th though, I got a 1990 one for $200 canadian. just deciding what BK to put in there.
-
Nice guitar twin fan! Another one, is that 2 in a week?! :D

Cool, and I really love the matching cases. :D
Now you've gotta take a photo of all your RGs for posterity!
-
Love the axe. I'd like to pick up a yellow one at some point. :D
-
i really like the yellow one. i got to check em out, if they ever get them here. and the matching cases are awesome
-
Niiiiiice!! real jealous haha, though i still can't believe they didn't reissue the florescent green colour.
-
[38thstylepost]That Mr Potato Head is amazing.
I also very much like you Decor - The Black leather against the Desert carpet.
Very nice - Although that huge fluorescent yellow guitar sat on the sofa has to go - The Feng Shui just doesn't sit right :D[/38thstylepost]
Ace guitar - Very 80s. Am sure it plays superbly.
-
Wooohooo!!
how do they feel against the originals?
-
I actually prefer the reissues to play - they just squeal and squark and ARE 80s rock! Having said that, I haven't played the originals for a little while. I'll probably do some back to backs in the newar future ;)
Of the two new ones, the Road Flare Red is the one that I've bonded with more. I like that, seeing as how I've got the two oldies to go with it! It's just got a slightly fuller sweeter sound that suits my ears. WIth the Desert Yellow it's a more treble-y sound and I just end up whacking out pinched harmonics like Billy Gibbons!
Phil - I will have to get an Ibanez family photo...
-
Twinfan have you ever played one of the GRG2 necks as found on the RG270? My mates got one and it feels great, I wondered if anyone could compare it to the Wizard II which seems to be on most of the RG line.. I'm almost tempted to get one after playing the GRG2, I thought I hated Ibanez and superstrats!
-
Great stuff Twinfan. Noodle I am flattered!
-

That is a good thing!
I do that all the time whenever I play my Thinline Tele. In fact it's all the Thinline seems to want to do.

Not played one matey I'm afraid. Superstrats are great for all out rocking. I need to learn how to tap properly...

It's exactly the same with the Yellow RG - it's nice to have two with different characters!
-
thats a whole lot of ibanezezez :) Not terribly fond of the color, the red is a bit too orangy, but it might be the photo... you can't go wrong with an RG (as i myself own one - O YEEEEAH)!
-
I confirm ,i had the black one, it is better that the old...
