Does the EArvana nut makes a big difference ?
-
Wow.
That's stunning.

Beautiful work Jonathan.

I believe so
see here for some stuff on it

I don't tend to like single cut guitars but that is stunningly beautiful.

Whats that extra switch for by the vol and tone knobs?
-
Whats that extra switch for by the vol and tone knobs?
Coil taps both pickups
Customer wanted that rather than a push pull so he could keep all the pots high quality CTS ones (tone caps are Hovland Musicaps)

Nice!
I want a purple strat :(

Regular Zebra would have looked cool as well !
think I will do that on the next purple one I do
£5.95? Could work as a first deposit.....

Tbh, I`d buy a Feline just to have the cool eyes on the 12th fret!!
-
With that kind of attitude - Expect a massive mortgage Woogie.

Ok - we'll make your next one - to go with the lovely one Bob at Legra made you :D

Lol, the eyes are just so cool though!! Especially if they were yellow or glow in the dark. Stupid forum making me want to spend all my money :(
-
I absolutely love my Ibanez but to get a better one than my RGT42 I'd have to go Prestige RGT and that's £1000+. For that kind of money I'd go with something like Ran or Feline so I could get exactly what I want. I mean, if I spent all that on an Ibanez I'd still want to change the pups and maybe the wiring so a custom build becomes a reasonable option. I know that Ran's are very reasonably priced so I assume Feline are similar.
-
Beautiful guitar, makes my Les Paul look a bit dowdy!
I must say though, i'm a little disturbed that the first picture is called "Adrian Thorpe Fullfront"! that's gonna look a bit dodgy in my recent documents list!
-
:D That looks unbelievably fantastic Johnathon ! Can i ask how much it was ?
Are your neck joints for the single cuts Long tennon or short Johnathon as i cant remeber.
I`ve played one of Johnathons Single cuts before they play really well & the easier access to the upper frets was great i`ve got to say having seen that one i`m really tempted ! [ Again ! ]
My bank manager will hang me !!

This is why I couldn't be a luthier (well, that + the fact that I'm hopelessly inept at any task involving tools ) - it would break my heart to make a guitar that I absolutely loved then hand it over.
Yeah, I know that the customer would be paying me for it, but I'd probably do the luthiery equivalent of drinking all the profits :)
-
it really looks great - looks like purple is the way forward!!
I was thinking of having black covered RY's on the LP i am having sprayed purple at the moment - they look great on your guitars
-

Its almost worth it when you see them grinning like a fool!
-
that's pretty awesome.

Looks great Jonathon!

:D That looks unbelievably fantastic Jonathan ! Can i ask how much it was ?
This particular Lion was about £2300
Pricing on Lion types starts at about :
£1400 for a simple flat top junior with all access neck.
£1750 for an arch-top
Inlays, binding and figured wood all add to the mix
£200 for block inlays rather than dots or blank
£100 for binding
£100 - £500 extra for the figured top depending on the piece of wood used and the cost to buy that piece
This example had a pretty nice quilted top that added £250 to the price
Are your neck joints for the single cuts Long tenon or short Jonathan as i cant remember.
Always long tenon - set deep so that we can carve the all access neck with no loss of strenth

That's a lovely axe aswell =O
-
That purple Lion looks stunning. I really like the purple in combination with the all black hardware.

Would the all-access, long-tenon neck joint work with a thinner bodied guitar (like, say, a flat top Jr with a 1.5"-1.75" thick body - and a neck pickup), or does it need that Les Paul depth for maximum strength?
Lovely guitar, by the way! :D I think I still prefer the aquamarine korina one, but it's a close thing, the purple looks ace!

No - works fine as long as it's a single-cut design
Got a work in progress on one at the moment here in the workshop
-
Beautiful axe.
I've been toying with the idea of having an SG Special built at some point. May have to contact Feline if I decide to go ahead with it...
-
That purple axe is just about as sexy as you can get in regards to guitars. Nice job!!! :D
-
Hey Jonathan check your emails mate, I'm interested in having you work on one of my strats in the near future.
-
Nice!
I want a purple strat :(
Like a regular Fender or Charvel style like Jake's one?
a jake strat would be interesting, was his production model with the gibson scale length? and the medium + jumbo fret combo too?
doesn't that feel weird/play weird for a strat anyway?
oo i have sent you an email about a lion with the design form attached :D
-
Very Beautiful Guitar

I`ve already got the blueburst, check my other thread ;)
I would get one like his originals with 25.5" scale length and all jumbo frets, those are his best guitars imo.

(close your ears jonathan.. ;) )
i popped into Feline last Thursday and was lucky enough to try this guitar acoustically. i blushed with embarrasment as i strummed it, its easily the nicest playing guitar i ever tried, 1000x better than my rough and ready technique. the things a work of art, at first i really wanted it, but i could never throw an amazing guitar like this around on stage, and have it smash it against my bullet belt and leather gloves. its certinally worth every penny of the £2300 price in my opinion.
one day though, i'm certinally keen to get a v-line.
-

I know exactly what you mean (except about the bullet belt etc, I'm a bit old for all that  ). Which is one of the reasons I'd go for something quite plain, no maple top or intricate inlays etc. Although I'm sure I'd still treat it like a work of art.
I once read an interview with Vito Bratta of White Lion, where he said that whenever he got a new guitar from ESP (or whoever he was endorsing at the time) he'd whack it a couple of times with a hammer, so he wouldn't be "afraid" to play it.
Not that I'm advocating doing that to a Feline, of course! :o
-
ahahah guys, you are a bunch of GAS Spreaders
ahahahahahahahahaha
-
:D If you seriously think i`m going to whack the "Preacher" with a hammer !!
It`s the little dings a scratches that make it Rock`n`Roll ! Its not a great guitar untill you`ve hit the Bass player when turning around on stage. [ it was an accident.......honestly ! ]
:D 8)

That's a gorgeous guitar Jonathon! The black hardware goes really well with the purple finish.

O MY $%ING GOD....
I WANT IT
-
Thanks guys - appreciate the comments!
-
I personally dont like the colour or quilted top, then again I've never liked purple guitars or ones with quilted tops :P Still looks great though, I bet that neck joint feels great.
-
Just seen that the owner of this guitar has posted a review on Harmony Central
It's here (http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/product/Feline+Guitars/Custom+Purple+Singlecut/10/1) if you want to read it

:o , you actually make the best les pauls!!
-
bloody excellent work!!!
The only thing i would change with this guitar is the finishing schedule. It looks like it has been dyed black then sanded back and sprayed purple. Its a great look but i reckon it would look better dyed dark purple, sanded back and sprayed purple..... subtle difference i know so yes i am being picky and contrary. The darker purple on it now suits all the black on the rest of the guitar, but i think a more vibrant purple might be interesting
But i really like this guitar and the subtle difference in how it is finished would reallly make it a guitar i could love forever - but none of that matters if the customer is happy . . . and he so obviously is!!!
i reckon this is the kind of guitar that looks ten times better in the flesh.
-
I don't think the pics can do it justice either. I think that, in the flesh, you could almost drown in the depth of that finish.
I've seen a guitar with a similar red finish. I think it was a burl maple top. It looked like liquid lava.
