Title: Nailbomb riffage and some shreding with The Mule
Post by: wintersun on August 04, 2007, 07:31:21 PM
So here it is... Let me know what you think. I've recorded it in Guitar rig, and I'm not quite satisfied with mastering, so please give me some tips.

BTW sorry for "some" mistakes... It's only a test :)

AND I forgot to mention... It was recorded with Ibanez RG1527

Dude, niiiice! I too used to find Guitar Rig a proper bitch to work with, try the Line 6 computer stuff, I think it's called tone port? I used to have Guitar Port back in the day, but if you can afford it, your best bet for home recording if you don't want to use a loud amp is a Line 6 Pod. I always used to be very sceptical about "virtual" amplification until I got my Pod XT Live, and it's truly an amazing piece of kit.

Thanks guys :) well, the trick is that I use my own distortion ("Seattle" from my Korg Tone Works processor), and not guitar rig dstortions. Didnt like them so I had to improvise...  :P

Here's what I did. As you can see there's a little bost in parametric eq. It's really not that important, it's just that I wanted to add some extra high mids to shape up the sound. Overall highs are boosted a lot, but it doesn't necessary mean that you will have to do the same. It's probably because I used an external distortion.

And yes, you might wanna add some more "air". I forgot to put it when I was recording.

I use the built in distortions, no wonder yours sounds so much better

I haven't really played around with the shelving EQ, tweaked a little with the parametric ones though (well I read a 5150 bright switch boosts the 7khz so I tried that and it sounded better)

Here, I have a new sound with The Nailbomb... First part of the sample is the same as above (with more air), and the second part is the new one. I like it cos it sounds very "destructive" and kinda harsh. Let me know what you think :D

Sounding great!

Just as an experiment, have you played both parts on top of each other? You might get a really nice and fat sound. :D
