Title: Am I crazy?
Post by: Atsim on August 07, 2007, 01:07:44 AM
Ok, so I used to have a Gibson SG with Bare Knuckle pickups (rebel yells) and of course loved 'em.

Well good things don't last, shortly after getting my guitar all perfect and a nice amp I got 'em stolen. Sold on ebay I believe...

So here I am six months later with a new Gibson SG (this one with p-90s) and an atomic reactor with a line 6 pod. I love the sound of the neck p-90... but the bridge one needs a little more bassy-ness. It sounds... muffled kind of.

It may just be TOO bass heavy... and... I miss my old humbuckers.

Would it be crazy to get a bridge humbucker and bring it to a guitar shop and say "Put this in here!" ? I'm guessing I'll need a new pick guard... or maybe have to the one I have now, and probably cut up some wood... but could a guitar tech handle all that?

And if so, how much would that be? Just a guess?

Also, I need a recommendation on a bridge pickup (single coil or humbucker)

I don't know, does it sound good? I also thought about trying out that thing.. what's it called.. coil tapping?

Edit: Just realized what I wrote, of course it'll sound good, but what kind of sound is it? Can you describe it to me?
