hey guys, i'm thinking of upgrading my Ibanez RG's pickups. If i were to do it , i would like the pickups to give a very versatile sound. As this guitar will be used for future recordings of alot of different styles (Jazz, Metal, Fusion, Funk, Blues) They would also have to clean up very well, as the pickups in my Ibanez SZ sound awesome when both pickups are selected and using a clean setting and i would like this to be replicated in my RG
My RG is made from Mahogany and Maple so this would have to be taken into consideration as it's different from other RG's.

I would check out some nailbombs. Im getting a pair put into my Ibanez soon, its a mahogany body, neck thru. So tonality will be fairly similar.

I'm not that knowledgeable about Bare Knuckles just yet but I reckon a calibrated set or Warpigs would be ideal. They can handle anything from Sabbath to more modern metal, and should be very good for rock too. Also they clean up very well, infact I heard that some french jazz musicians were using the Warpig in their guitars so it must be good.
Regards

Nailbombs - have them in my old RG550. They're awesome and very versatile. The splits are good, as are the cleans. The Nailbomb BKP demo uses my RG!

Your RG was is partly the reason im getting Nailbombs. I played your guitar at the London Guitar show. That guitar is SWEET! You sure you still dont want to sell it!? :D

Have you thought about Crawlers?
They are excellent clean, especially when they're both selected. They would be great for jazz, fusion and blues. I wouldn't say it's a metal pickup but the Crawlers arent afraid to take it on.
The shape and materials of your RG are quite similar to the guitar Geoff used on the clips.

I like the VHII's on my PRS - cleans up like a Fender on the splits. The full humbucker driven sound is really good. They work well with the Mahogany/Maple combination too.

Sorry...it's a keeper!
