Real python skin!! Taking things a bit far imo.
"A limited run of Parker Fly Mojo guitars with genuine python snakeskin tops. This is not a paint job — it’s real python snakeskin carefully hand-fitted to the top of each guitar before the finish sealer coat is applied. The snakes used for these guitars are not endangered. They are farm raised for commercial use."

Rofl - Talk about overkill :|
-
i had that idea a couple of years ago! someday i'll have my snakeskin top Les Paul...
-
So they kill the snakes for the skin or are the snakes dead first and then they steal the skin?
If it's killing for the skin that's just cruel, but if they were already dead then it wouldn't matter i suppose.
-
The one on their website looks pretty cool. I'm not usually a fan of the snake skin finishes on guitars but that looks cool.
-
[opinionated]I'm sorry, but that's the stupidest damn thing I've read in ages[/opinionated]
-
the snakes aren't endangered? if i were one of those snakes, i'd be feeling pretty endangered...
-
cool looking graphic (if it was)
beyond ugly guitar... yuck

I'm no expert on snakes, but don't they shed their skin periodically? Not sure if the shed skin would be any use as a material though, perhaps it has to be a full skin from a dead animal.
I wonder what effect the skin has on the tone? I'm sure I read that Warren deMartini's snakeskin-covered guitar didn't actually sound that great because the skin dampened the resonance of the wood.
-
Did Warren have real or painted skin?
I thought when they shedded it it just went all ripped and white. Surely they can't just be killing these snakes just for finishing guitars!!

Nah, it'll have to be the full skin. Shed snakeskin is too thin and fragile to use for tacky fashion accessories. :)

It automatically makes any amplifier sound like a Rockman. :D

It was definitely real - I remember seeing an article about how they covered it. He might even have had a couple of them.
-
i don't agree with that
-
I don't see any problem with it if the snakes are farmed, I mean you all weather leather right?!
The finish on that guitar looks well nice but personally I hate the looks of those parker guitars, they look flimsy.
-
I am intrigued by a snake farm...thinking of them gamboling around.Do they use specially trained snake dogs I wonder. I can't imagine a guitar with a snake skin top but hey, each to his own.
-
I wonder if there are snake rustlers ?
Actually I quite like the look of it (dunno why though as I don't like flash lookind instruments), for a Parker that is.
-
Must admit I've never liked the look of Parkers, but the light weight is very appealing.
Remember when Dave Navarro was advertising them a few years ago? Apparently he wanted a caption saying "at least it sounds good!"

good point actually.

Ive never been a fan of parkers, mainly because of their strange headstock design, but recently ive started to think they look kinda cool in the right finishes, and the quality of them looks brilliant aswel! im gonna try and get my hands on one this weekend, anyone had any experience with them?
-
Yeah. I played a parker fly quite a few times. Awesome guitars. The neck is very fast, and the guitar sound is very clear.
-
Why ANYONE would want a poor snake to die for a guitar is beyond me.
It's not like people in Africa and Asia need MORE rats and the like to infest their houses... jeez.
-
I'm a big parker fan, I'd have one of these if A) I could justify buying a third and B) could afford to buy a third.
I have to say, anyone getting on their high horse about frivilous use of a dead animal for fashion best not wear leather.
