Title: Agile AL-3000 with P90's
Post by: CJ on August 09, 2007, 02:56:14 AM
first of all, opinions on the AL-3000 w/P90's? i've been looking at this guitar for a while, and i think i may get it, what do we all think? i figure it'll give me a bit of a different sound from the Gibson XR-1, and could very well be the best bang for your buck out there...

anyway, poll topic... which color?!

Oh, also -- this site is 99% limeys, and they can't generally get Agile guitars, so don't feel bad if you don't get a lot of replies to this thread.

yeah i figured i might not get too many responses, but i thought i saw a couple people on here with Agiles, maybe i just saw the couple from the US. i've always wanted a cherry sunburst, but just now am i considering the goldtop, i guess less people have them so it could be cool.

do you think the guitar is definitely worth getting, or should i just save and get something else?

I'd want that burst one,, the bookmatching is dead on with that example,  i doubt they're all like that, but if they are that's fantastic...

It's a tough cookie, though i usually see goldtop les pauls with p90's... seems to go together well...

I'd go with the burst, 'cause looking at it makes me want to play it, the goldtop looks nice but it doesnt make me want to pick it up and play.

Well  I'd go for the aesthetic choice of cherry.I love gold tops but for some reason I prefer the cherry on this occasion.

Goldtop.

That body shape looks awfully like the 'Indie' guitars available over here...

I wonder.

Andy!

+1

as ben says, i (presumably as well as most others here) haven't been able to try an agile, so that's based solely on the looks.

I would only get the burst if you can drive out to Rondo Music in NJ and pick out the one you want.

^ yep, it's never usually like it is in the picture, i would want to look at it first, but it looks great in the picture so hopefully it is like that.

Well, I mentioned driving because the thread starter is in in PA, and unless you're in western PA, a drive to Rondo should be doable. :)

EDIT: nevermind, i thought it was in new jersey. either way though, i wouldn't really be sure what to look for in this type of guitar. what makes the finish better than another? visible flaws, or just how it looks?

anyway, i do think the goldtop looks very good, but i believe the cherry stands out more. i want a guitar that looks good enough that i'll go pick it up and play it every time i see it.

hmm... looking at the website, it says the showroom is closed anyway... maybe i can contact kurt or someone over there and ask for a picture of the actual guitar they will send me. i've talked to him before and he seems to be pretty nice.

If the goldtop had a wraparound bridge or a bigsby, I would have chosen that one.

The CSB looks good and different from most P90 LP's. Sweet lookin' maple top.

eh, i talked to kurt over at rondo... he said they don't do pictures. i really don't see what the big deal is if they're getting a sale... oh well. he said the finishes on the sunbursts were pretty consistent. i believe it. i checked out the reviews on harmony-central.com and all the ones i looked at said the finish was amazing.

They probably feel that if they take pics for one person then they have to for everyone.

looking at the reviews at harmony-central, many people have said they get the guitars straight from korea and DO NOT even look at the guitars before they ship them to you. it appears the only complaints though is sometimes cracked necks and chipped headstocks, sometimes wrong guitars. everybody seems to like the finishes...
