Black Dogs through Shiva and a Rola12-65
Really dig the combo of 1xGreenback and 1xRolaG12-65 I have now in my 2x12.
This is just the Rola though.
Oh and the RMC3 Wah in front and the Lexicon MX200 in the loop.
Low volume/TV level recording.

Thanks TF, yeah Reinhold surely knows his trade.
Shiva's real organic in a great way, seems to be very picky with Bias, tubes, pickups, cables and stuff, but once you get to know it, it's like your well known racing horse, you know what you have to feed it, you can actually play with the parameters and it's then easy to get a winning result...
Recording this clip was virtually no effort, just moved the SM57 around a bit until I had a spot I liked. I always move the mic with a running backing track, doing some tapping with the left and moving the mic with the right hand- much more effective than changing amp settings ...

i can't believe how good that amp sounds at such low volumes! TV level!? my JCM800 at tv level sounds like a buzzsaw cutting up tin cans about a mile away.

Thanks Indy, you always make very nice comments, really appreciate it!
Well the master volume on the Shiva is indeed a class on its own, it can sound very "big" when set very low. If you crave for a low volume big sound amp, there's lots of options these days.
On a budget I really recommend you to check out the Tiny Terror if you're looking for that Zeppelin vibe (also keeps the value very well). Actually if the TT had two identical channels instead of only one and an FX loop, it would be tough competition for the Bogner, in my book.

Hi Indy
Have you looked at power soaks? Ive got a THD Hot Plate on my JCM800 and it really helps low level tone :)

yeah i have a hotplate. it's a bar-steward tone strangler ¬¬ lol. below -12dB it KILLS tone, and i wouldn't call that kind of volume bedroom level - more like small club / large pub level.
A JCM800 isn't really an amp that you can play at "bedroom" level effectvely, i just annoy my family and the neighbours :P

No, you need the pickup used in every thread title, or the thread will be moved/removed.

I'm surprised you say that - as soon as it is in the circuit it will effect the tone in whatever way (good or bad) more impedance might squash the sound some more I guess, but any other effects would just be the speaker not flapping around like a loon :)
But then you do get used to what you use and adjust it to what you'd like, so that would colour my judgement

Wow, hell of a tone there man. Sounds about as organic and detailed as you can get in a home recording. Nicely done.
