Title: Looking for a form of transport
Post by: Woogie on August 13, 2007, 06:00:24 PM
I`m 16 very soon and need to get around quicker, does anyone know of a 50cc 3 wheeler that can get me around cheaply?

I found this so far (http://www.3wheelers.com/pdcharly.jpg) but I really can't see myself in one of those!! I only have a small budget as most of it goes on guitars and amps!!!!

Any help would be great thanks!!

+1 to that!

I wouldn't be caught dead in a three wheeler like that.

When I was 16 I had a 50cc bike. Lemme see if I can dig up a picture of my home grown customized Yamaha.

Thats awesome!! How much did it cost?

I`d love a cool bike like that but most of the ones I have seen have been wimpy rust buckets :P

I took me tractor test when I was 16, (been a farmer)
and so am legal to drive a quad bike on the road - I would advise this route!
or maybe the tractor if you can't find a quad bike.
grr can't afford car retest

what do you consider cheap? old cars are always cheap. i'm 17 and just bought myself a 78 camaro last year. picked it up for $2,000, and its actually pretty nice.

You could try this - Start saving now, and by the time you're eligible for a provisonal licence, you should have enough for a course of driving lessons, and if you don't buy any more guitars ( ) you could well have enough for a half decent first car as well. I know you're after a quick fix, which I totally understand, but I've had a few friends injured (one quite badly) riding scooters and the like - and none of the accidents were their fault. Thought it might be worth mentioning.

I got my first car money sorted luckily. I just hate having to walk everywhere as I`m always late.

Get a push bike ;) The advantage to this is you dont have to pay expensive maintenance bills, tax etc, you get fitter, and you can take it off sweet jumps  :P

Moped = CHAV!

Seriously, we have little moped crews in our town who go around on their scooters haha so funny, the noise is the funniest part, i believe it goes something like this: eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I've just sent off for my provisional, won't be buying anymore guitar gear for a while, probably selling a bit of it to pay for lessons!
Oh yeah £45 for a drivers license!! what a rip

My previous beast.  You could but the 50cc version when you're 16.

http://www.joopdekokmotoren.nl/images/andere92.jpg

Bloody expensive to run though.  Mine (125 version though) cost about £500-£600 every 6000km for a service, used nearly as much fuel as my mates Scooby.  I also blew the engine (pulling a stoppie) which cost me £1,200 to fix, but then only got me 12 miles on the rebuilt engine.

Absolute hoot when it works though  :P
