Title: yet another Wah question!
Post by: Gazz on August 13, 2007, 08:26:46 PM: I have about £120 to purchase a Wah pedal and have listened to many demos & samples on You Tube etc and read countless reviews......and still undecided. I play primarily hard rock/punk and am considering the following :

Vox V847
Budda Wah
Bad Horsie II

Any pros n cons to beware of ...personally I think the Vox but then the Budda has some rave reviews.....

Words of wisdom to help me choose please!!!!! :roll:

Post by: _tom_ on August 13, 2007, 08:31:14 PM: I think that a V847 is fine and can be had for quite cheap - I got one with a true bypass mod on ebay for £56 and I think it sounds great. May do some mods eventually, just out of curiosity really.

Post by: hunter on August 13, 2007, 08:35:47 PM: I personally have never been happy with "static" wahs - meaning ones that cannot be tweaked. My 847 for example had a noticeable volume drop when engaged, nothing you want from a wah.

For me the RMC3 wah owns as it can do tens of different tones on a very high quality level. I have a word doc with about 20 presets named after artists and it's just great to dial in different flavours of wah.

Post by: Simon D on August 13, 2007, 08:57:32 PM: If you're after a wide sweep, you should take a look at the Dunlop Zakk Wylde crybaby. Personally, I'm not a fan of the Morley optical system - I had a Tremonti wah for a few months - it's not controllable enough for my tastes.

Best advice I can give is try before you buy - I didn't with the Tremonti, and ended up with something I didn't get on with.

Post by: HTH AMPS on August 13, 2007, 10:07:12 PM: get an old Jen Crybaby off ebay - I've never paid more than £40 and they are the real deal (vintage wah). I sold my RMC3 when I got my Jen wahs and a Stuart Castledine-modded one.

Post by: the_bleeding on August 14, 2007, 12:09:35 AM: dimebag crybaby from hell or whatever the hell its called. Has built in boost, q knob, and some other button. VERY tweakable, has better sweep than the zakk wylde wah imo, and skateboard tape grips quite nicely ;)

Post by: Crazy_Joe on August 14, 2007, 12:07:44 PM: I've heard good things about Bad Horsies, my guitar teacher has brought his in many a time and i love it. Though saying that i have no problems with my Dunlop Original Cry baby which is like 50 quid.
