I'm not a great player - but I thought i'd do a clip of my Apache loaded Mex 60s classic through the Champion 600 - the clean sound is the neck pickup without FX - the overdriven sound is with the assistance of an HBE Powerscreamer.
-
I love the clean tone. It sounds even better than an accoustic. Increadible!
The dirty stuff was a bit thin IMHO.
I'm glad to see more people on this forum posting clips with Fender amps.
-
I agree - it is a bit thin - 6" of speaker can't really do grit n' grind, but, like you said, the clean is awesome - pure Fender tone in a tiny amp.
-
Sounds pretty good Elliot! How loud do those Champ 600s get? Probably too loud for me to use at uni in halls?
-
Compared to the Epi VJ (which does get loud) not loud at all - with max volume it fills up a large bedroom but no more - I haven't put it through a cab yet but I think the limitation to volume is the 6" speaker.
BTW I just changed over the speaker to a Jensen MOD 6-15 and it provides smoother cleans and thickens the crunch sound. It's never going to compete with the Epi for volume and crunch, but I think the cleans are much better and with the Jensen it has a respectable OD.

I once tried a little vintage all tube Princeton 15W. It was seriously loud and then I hooked it up to my 2X12. That moved a lot of air.
A VJ is surprisingly loud for only 5W. But not loud enough for band practice.

crystal clear, with balls and aggressiveness

tis nice - the dirty stuff certainly aint bad for a 6" speaker
-
The clean sounds are pretty impressive.
I quite like the OD for single coils. I reckon P-90's would sound very nice through that amp.
-
You'd be right, the bass of the P90 takes some of the treble out of the amp - I'll do a clip with my MQ tomorrow.
-
Aah that sounded nice-my pc speakers do not bring out the best though.
-
Here's another clip to show a bit more distortion - shocking playing again, like punk but worse.
Fender Squier JV series '62 reissue strat - with neck Mother's Milk
