i fitted some sperzel locking tuners to my squier cyclone. followed some hints from feline on this board and took my time over the measurements - no problem at all! :)
but now, i dont know how to use them... or rather i dont know if i'm using them correctly. here is my technique:
turn the locking mechanism off
thread the string through
pull the string tight
turn the locking mechanism on
tune until in pitch[/list:u]
seems logical to me - the problem (?!) is that i just have 1/3 to 3/4 of a turn of the string around each post. is this ok?

yep, thats the point!
Less winds = less tuning instability

thanks :) marvellous!

The entire point in Sperzels is that you don't have to do any winding really =)
it's just thread, clamp and tune.

I bought a set of Sperzels locking tuners when they first came out about 17 years ago and still have them on my guitar, yup..you're doin it right, you don't have to pull them tight at all either..they're wonderful tuners...makes life easier if you need to unhook the strings temporarily to work on the guitar too and don't want to change strings.
