Title: Keeley Java Boost
Post by: JJretroTONEGOD on September 02, 2007, 04:21:01 AM
I am pondering on whether it is a good idea to buy a Keeley Java Boost?

I already own a Keeley Fuzz Head, which is phenominal, and I'm set on the Java Boost as THE treble booster, but it's a lot of money!!!

Do any of you people own one already? Have you had good times with it?
Is it as sexual as it looks in tone?

let me know about your hexperience' wid dis blue beauty!

Ben.

I've had one for a while now and love it. The 3-way toggle gives you 3 distict setting ranging from mild to that old Sabbath sound. I use it a lot as a boost with another distortion source. It's absolutely amazing.   :D

I was using one for a while with a Strat/ Hot Rod Deluxe. Personally I prefer the Zvex box of rock for a lead boost with that setup. I'm keeping it aside as it is clearly a quality pice of kit and I'm guessing it may work better with a darker guitar/ amp.

The amp also has to be quite loud for it to give you the full effect. It's not a lower volume device and it states that in the instructions given. So unless your pushing the volume a bit don't expect killer tone.

The amp was cranked (10 - 11). It just made it a bit harsh sounding but I must stress that's the only guitar amp combination I've tried with it.

mmh, nice setup! what is a trex alberta?

p.s as for the zvex it's a very nice pedal, I agree, I'll check it out if I can find a shop that stocks it. The Java has the three modes though! it seems more versitile, they are both good.
