I need a cheapo (very cheapo) guitar for under £200 for college because i don't want silly kids bashing up/stealing my good guitars
My mate who goes to the same college did this so that's where i got the idea from, he bought a Jackson JS series dinky and was happy with it.
My only really cheapo guitar before was an Epiphone LP special II and i thought it was great, though i har good things about Yamaha Paciffica and stuff.
What would you recommend?
Cheers, Joe.

Just take your Ibanez, I'm sure no one will want to nick that  :P

Never played one, but how about Agile?

I'm all in favour of the Pacifica. I know it aint exactly an original suggestion, but they are excellent guitars - I started out on one 13 years ago and a good friend now owns it and plays it everyday - still solid as a rock.
Plus, these days you can pick up the (shortly to be phased out) 412V model with a drop in trem arm (very important imho) and an Ibanez style neck joint for £200. Try http://www.imuso.co.uk/ProductDetail.asp?StockCode=EG00500
The old 112 model will be dirt cheap now too, as it's just been revamped with new colours etc.
Might catch some flak for this, but I'm going to say it anyway - I think any Yam under £200 will be better built than a Jackson of the same price - another goo reason for going Yamaha.

+1 on the Yamaha Pacifica 112.
Or what about a Vintage? Trev Wilkinson design features, lots of different styles and models, many of them under £150.
Personally I'd be quite tempted to get an Epi LP Junior, bolt-on, 1 humbucker, for about £80. So cheap you could lose it on the way home from the pub and not feel too bad about it.

+1 on the yamahas. they are a bit blah design wise but really well built
-
+1 on the pacifica. some of those lags are quite nice too for under £200. EDIT: oh, some of those chinese hamers are nice too. I think rrp is £250, you could maybe get them down a bit...
alternatively, don't buy a new guitar but buy an assault rifle instead. attach a picture of it to your guitar case. no-one will touch it.

Pacifica! They do a really good Tele style guitar with 2 hum, I'm GASing for one from time to time lol but always have other cr@p to buy.
-
The pacifica 112 was my first guitar! It was really great, far better than any squires that i played on at the time
Go for it!

Pacifica or a Vintage would get my vote.

The one I was talking about (http://www.thomann.de/gb/yamaha_pacifica_120s_yns.htm)

pacifica, or a cheapo MIJ Greco

That picture's awesome.
So it comes with Warpigs?

You wish :P

Cheers for all the suggestions guys, most people seem to be liking the Pacifica, i'm really liking that tele, and i can see myself using it after college as a proper guitar too, though the strat ones are nice too.
There are some used Vintage guitars in Coda at the moment, an SG for £119! http://www.coda-music.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=170&products_id=2322
and a PRS style for £139 http://www.coda-music.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=170&products_id=2111
I like the SG and it's damn cheap so i could be heading down to Coda this week for that.

Good choice. Just check the joins in the body wood first. See if Coda will email you a better picture. Some guitars have REALLY badly mis-matched joins and it looks really naff.
Pick it up cheap now, add Riff Raffs later ;)
-
^ haha, i was thinking that too.

Some of the Vintage guitars are amazing value for money. Last year I got a new Les Paul Gold Top on offer reduced from £229 to £129 and replaced the Wilkinson pickups with BKP P91s. For the price the build quality was good - feel and playability is not too far away from my Gibson LP Standard and of course the sound with the P91s is excellent. (slight problem with the bridge pickup routing being a little tight).

Getting up to 3, 4 and 500 and more, Dean, Ibanez, schecter, maverick, jackson, the usual contenders start to get pretty good, but for £200 the pacifica 12x's havnt been topped by anyone, for my money.
