Too bad it isn't made any longer!! (I could be wrong, but that was the rumour I heard)

The mini plex looked like a superb amp.

This is a new version, MkII it's just out, uses Power Scaling like the Suhr Badger ...

Ah, thanx for the info.

I would get one if I had a use (and the money) for one.

Sounds like my kind of amp - wonder what they cost?

1500$ the head as an introduction offer it says on their site
http://www.fargenamps.com/ampminiplex.html

Well, after all shipping and customs etc it will cost you around 1,000 GBP or more.

To be fair, the power scaling costs them a few hundred already, as they have to buy it from the inventor. So I guess the price is really allright for a hand wired amp with that awesome sound plus the extensive features and high quality components.

I want one badly actually ...

That's a lot of money!  I think I'll buy British and get a Cornell Plexi 7...

... some day.

I wonder how the Cornell's low power (1/4 watt) mode compares with the Fargen's power scaling?  They're probably totally different principles, but I'm afraid I don't know much about amps, as I've said before.

Hmmm, maybe Peter Cornell would build you a Plexi with Power Scaling?

I mean anyone can buy the technology

Be fair, I think his options were limited!    Unless he went for the full cueball look.

Since London Power came out with their power scaling unit expect some really tasty amps popping up which can pretty much keep the same tone in the bedroom as cranked.

You're probably right - and, as with hi-definition video formats, maybe it's best to wait a while and see what happens before dropping a lot of money.  :)
