I picked up the G12-100H in 16 ohm in a junk fair for £6 (it was still in a sealed box) so it was a good deal - I am putting together a 2 x 12 for my Blues Junior. Trouble is I don't really like the British sound so I want an American sounding speaker to go with it. I was thinking that either a Jensen Mod-70 or 110 or a Eminence Texas Heat would balance things out, but I have no idea what a G12-100H sounds like (not the best is my prediction given its no longer made). Any thoughts?

As far as I'm aware they still make the G12H-100 (the HOT100). It's not a bad sounding speaker at all, just needs plenty of volume to sound it's best (like the G12T-75).
As for American sounding speakers, I can't help you there mate - I play Celestions exclusively.

I thought the Hot 100 was the G12T-100 - is there any difference with the H100 or is just a change of name.

almost 100% sure its a different speaker. i have some and like them alot.
i have one 8ohm G12H100 spare as it happens.
sounds alot like the 30th anniversary G12H30, but with a slightly deeper resonance and it needs more power to get that G12H sound. very much enjoy them... I would say it has 99dB of sensitivity.
i'd pair with a Vintage 30 if were you, but as you dont want a British sound, I dont know what to suggest

Totally different speaker.
The G12H100 is the forerunner to the G12K100, it's big bold and quite dark, the Hot100 is total shitee.
The H100 is one of my favourite speakers, the K100's are great for recording metal, just ask Thom from the Fobia he also posts here.

Using a G12T75 with this speaker actually works quite well, you get back some of the top end sparkle and clarity but retaining a big ballsy sound.
I wouldnt suggest an American voiced speaker to go with this, and if u ever wanna sell that speaker give me a shout im always on the look out for G12H100's.

Cheers, I might try that combo - G12T75s are often available on ebay. What about a Celestion 70/80? Dont they have top end to balance out the h100 as well?

I've got some speakers I'm selling at the minute if you're interested...
* 2x G12T-75s (got these off Twinfan and never got round to getting a cab for 'em)
* 2x HH V60s (basically a less harsh V30 - a very nice speaker indeed).
All are 16ohm speakers in perfect working order.

Will a G12H100 and a Classic Lead go well together in a 2x12?

Hey Fella
If you want to hear an A/B of a G12H30 against a G1275T Ive done one here:

Might give you a better idea of their flavour...

Thanks - that was great - The G12H has it, but I kinda like the sleazy 70s tone of the G12T. I now have a G12h100, a Classic Lead and a G12T75 picked up from various places, so I will experiment.
Many thanks.
