Title: Miracle man for me?
Post by: AngusYoung01 on September 12, 2007, 08:33:22 PM
OK, its looking more and more likely that I'll be joining all you toneful folk within a short amount of time, and I'm wondering if this is the pickup for me?

I'm using a Gibson SG Special, all mahogany, going into a Marshall DSL50, and an MXR Distortion Plus. Somtimes I use a crybaby or an Arion Chorus. I have it set to guite a lot of gain, with the treble nearly all up, mid and bass on about 6.

I use the "Deep" switch, which thickens the sound and increases the bass. I find it to adopt some of those sweet Mesa qualities, but unfortunatly, when the switch is on, its nearly impossible to get pinches, especially lower down. I think this pickup sounds good for this.

What I'm looking for -

Easy pinches
High output
Tight response
Clarity
Not a thin sound
Think kind of Dream Theater (Images and Words or Scenes From A Memory) rhythm sound. I play A LOT of Maiden and Extreme, with Nuno using an active Bill Lawrence (I believe?) so could this do those kind of tones?

Thanks loads guys, sorry for the lengthy article there, but I really want to make the right choice!

It does the things that you listed with ease, pinches are effortless. I think they sound stunning for high gain stuff.
