Title: Dear lord the MD421 is a good mic!

Got one the other day.

The tone I've been trying to drag kicking and screaming out of a 57 and an audix i5 just fell out of it with no effort. Tight, punhcy lows, smooth mids (but not too smooht, like black album smooth, just not rough like I find the 57 and i5 to be), clear sharp and totally un-harsh highs.

If you play metal, buy one. Now. (hint: they're 220 quid at dolphin now, hence me getting it).

My mate has an OLD one of those that he swears by for mic'ing guitar cabs.  I've never really thought of buying one in the past as I always thought of them as drum mics (they're very popular for micing toms).

Will have to check 'em out when I get back playing again.

That is wicked expensive, they are 55 quid less in the states.

Stereo mic'ing with the SM57/MD421 is supposed to yield great results.

This is what im going to be doing soon, i've only got a cheap SM57 Clone at the moment but im slowly building up my recording gear, need some Powered Monitors also.

On our most recent promo, we used 3 mics on the guitar cabs, a 57, a C414, and a 421. The 421 is a wonderful mic, great for guitar tracking!
