Title: Is Nailbomb 7 Alnico VIII??
Post by: wintersun on September 21, 2007, 03:59:17 PM
Well, I know some might think I'm pretty much insane, but in specs I got with my Nailbomb 7 it says that its Alnico VIII! Any comments?

It must've been what Tim thought would work best - give him a call and ask.

it must sound THICK :o
my ex-duncan custom sounded very modern and chunky with this magnet, but my holy diver sounds as beefy and a lot clearer

Well, what exactly are the main differences between alnico V and alnico VIII magnets? I noticed its quite heavy sounding, and I really like it :D

alinco 8 must be pretty ceramic sound wise, i would imagine, afterall alnico 5 is pretty close - i reckon it must make perfect sense for a bigger pickup though

i find it very different from ceramic
the highs remember the alnico 5, but it sounds a bit tighter and more bassy
it's darker than ceramic and a bit less tight too, but has a ton of mids (more than alnico 5)

Well. now its official!

Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to inform you that I truly am a very proud owner of the allmighty ALNICO VIII NAILBOMB ahahahaaahahaa

Heres what I got from Tim:
"Yes it is........AVIII is higher output than AV.....it's almost like a cross between Alnico and ceramic in tone."

That's all I've got... I believe it's because before he recommended me the Nailbomb I was thinking of Miracle Man or Warpig (both ceramic), but I also wanted something with more mids. So he made something in between I guess :D
