Title: Placed my order
Post by: il˙ti on September 27, 2007, 03:07:58 PM
So, after two weeks of harrassing Tim with emails and taking grotesque advantage of his commitment to answer them, I ordered my first set of BKPs.
Crawlers coming my way, and into my Les Paul.

Needless to say I also had to beg my girlfriend for permission to spend this kind of money (on myself...) but hey, I bribed her with a new guitar, so it's all good and I'm very poor.
 :D

Pics, clips, and review will be coming up when I get them.

Of course you realise that you'll have to buy your girlfriend a set of BK's once she hears them?

Once you BK nothing else will do :)

Nah, they don't come in a color she likes. 8)

Kidding aside, yes I'd probably have to. Eventually.

Considering that she's as much of a Becker fan as I am, probably any color that isn't available.

Speaking of the becker guitar, a fellow guitar builder called Russel Garehan from the states has just done an excellent double neck tribute to it

and the finished thing

On topic? Pff, go nuts. Anything Becker-related is welcome in a thread I started.  :)

And that double-neck is indeed remarkable.

Count yourself lucky (VERY lucky) that you have a gf who even likes guitars.

Nice choice on the Crawlers BTW, don't have any myself but tried some at LGS & was quite impressed....

Thanks, hehe. I do consider myself lucky. She just took up the guitar again after realizing that short fingers doesn't prevent you from learning it. And I can thank Lori Lindstruth for that.

I have quite high expectations to these pups. I've heard people say BKP saved the sound of a Gibson before.

Having them fitted sometime this week (tomorrow unless somethign strange and tragic happens) and there will be clips. I'm having it done professionally but I'll stay around to see how it's done. Hopefully I can learn how to fit them myself next time.

Fitting pups isn't hard if you know how to solder, even if you get the wiring wrong you can't do any damage. The only thing you can do is burn the pots. Make sure the tech teaches you how to solder if you don't already know, it's not hard either but always worth getting someone to give you pointers.

Yea, exactly. I've never tried soldering and I don't own a soldering iron. I'm confident about the wiring though.
