Ack curse you bare knuckles, i was pretty much set on getting a calibrated set of miracle men, but then something in my gut (and alot of the post/sudgestions made about nailbombs) made me think hmmmm. I've listened to pretty much all the MM and NB demos and i can't for the life of me decided which to get.
Please can someone help me.
A little bit about my playing style, i predominantly play metal of the shread variety although i do venture into all relms bar nu "metal".
I do play other genreas, blues, funk, jazz, country, classical but i leave that to the mothers milk (an acoustic for classical once i get my hands on one).
Our style is very thrasy as that is our roots (think testament, early metallica, early sepultura) but then we tend to venture of and add other elements in, i do all the clean work on the neck pick up, solos on bridge and neck for sweaping and just when i want a "fat" tone errrm i economy pick (if that helps) i don't do much legato i tend to pick/tap everything.
So basically i need something thats heavy as hell with alot of chrunch and chug, good for screaming leads, and in the neck something that cleans up well but also gives a really nice fat tone for leads.
I was hopeing i could go for a calibrated set.
And i've already got a Piggy :P

IMO, the Miracle Man is everything a metal pickup is supposed to sound like. If these pups were available in the 80s, I think that the Mircale Man would've out-sold the Duncan Distortion.

The miracle man and nailbombs are both excellent, it comes down to a couple of key differences - mid range and tightness of bass. The Miracle Man has more low mid, the Nailbomb has it's mid range peak a bit higher, and the bass is surgical on the MM (ceramic), a little looser on the NB (alnico)

I believe the Nailbomb cleans up slightly better than the MMs, but I'd still go for cali. MMs for what you're playing, as it's pretty similar to mine.

Damn right.

I have ordered a calibrated set of Nailbombs recently. I played them at the LGS and they sounded awesome. I have also played them in 2 different Blackmachines. The guitarist from sikth ( pin ) also uses them. If you dont know sikth have a lot of tapping and dont only do heavy stuff. They have a lot of clean intricate parts as well. If i get my nailbombs before you make your decision then ill do some clips for ye.

YAH LEPER.. send some soundclips to us

Sekhmet, I recently got a calibratede set of MM's and couldn't be happier with them. The guitar they are in is tuned to 'C' and the bass is so tight!
The thing that surprised me the most was the neck pup. It sounds so warm when easing back off the distortion but when played with full gain its a monster!
i think I'm gonna get a set of warpigs next but I'm glad I went for the MMs first.

Wow, didn't know that Pin from Sikth uses Nailbombs. That's ace. Sikth rule

If you like the early sepultura tone, the Nailbombs would be the way to go. They would also be the more versatile of the two pickups and you would be able to get a wider verity of tones with them.
Personally I think that the Nailbombs would be the best choice for you.

I'm still try to get some sound clips of my MM set together to post of the board. As soon as I have something good enough(?!) I'll post it.

Cheers for the advice guys, ahhhh i still can't decided, i guess its just gonna be one of those gut things, i'l try out my mates miracle man through my amp if i can get hold of him.

listen to Steves clips.. he uses a strat with a nailbomb + mothers milk for a few tracks it sounds KILLER!
converted me from MM to Nailbomb for my custom specced shred machine 8)

 The miracle man is a metal monster personally it snds better than EMG 81 Zakk Wydle set. Also the nailbomb is great but i ordered and (very proud) to own a cameo calibrated covered set of miracle man humbuckers to go into my Maverick X1 guitar. Nailbombs are gonna go into a v shaped guitar im gonna buy soon. Tim advised me if i really wanted crunchin' power and screamin leads from the likes of zakk, metallica, guns n roses and dragon force then these pups are the ones. I told him i was into metal through and through. The thing about miracle man is i think it has more crunch than nailbomb but though MM is a shredin beast nailbomb can push further. Both are awesum for metal and great for beastly solos and riffs so which ever one u choose u wont be disapointed at all

I got a MM nearly a year ago and am extremely pleased with it. I also have a ZW set of EMG's and although the EMG's have more of a mid-range grind, the MM just out-performs them in every category. sometimes i play the MM and im happy with it, then i pick up the axe and I just realize how awesome they are. I have a double allen head screw Hummer which boosts the bass and top end. Not sure what its like compared to a normal one, but the bass is huge and the top and mid is extremely controlled and great for shred. Harmonics are better on this than any other PU ive tried including the EMG's which I though were supposed to be the best!!
