Bear with me here guys ;)
We all know Hunter makes superb clips for this forum using some great gear. I've heard him play like Dave Gilmour, Jimmy Page and Joe Perry to name but a few.
But what does Hunter sound like? Does he just do great impersonations of everyone? Or does his own style come through when he gigs?
Come on Hunter, let us know. Have you got any clips of you sounding like YOU?
:D

Good point. I used to do my own stuff a lot, but recently I just played covers.
In fact I'm wondering if I still have an own style.... :(
It's probably because I'm in a top40 band, and my major task is to replicate other people's stuff (although I am adding my own twist here and there, sometimes due to my own limitations, sometimes for the sake of it). It's a lot of fun though ...
But probably I should start again in a band that do their own stuff...

I wan't really thinking about your own songs, more the style and tone of your guitar(s).
Do you ever cover other people's songs in 'your' way? Or do you just replicate the original tracks very closely?

Doesn't this answer your question?

Depends. A solo like Stairway to Heaven, I wouldn't wanna change, so I'd try to replicate it as close as possible, unless I go for the live version where it just becomes too lengthy to learn it all (also some of Pagey's chops I cannot really pull off). Then on songs like since I've been loving you etc, it's just some parts that I learn and I connect the rest trying to sound like Jimmy.
There's a real conflict, on one hand you wanna learn other people's solos, so you add to your library of licks and tricks, on the other hand you are in danger to really forget what you're like yourself. The only way out is either to ignore the originals when you cover songs (and cover in a way like e.g. Marylin Manson, or Santana's version of Black Magic Woman) or you do your own compositions - both of which I haven't really done a lot recently.

I think the For The Love Of God clip has a lot of the real Hunter in it http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8152&highlight=love+god

Which is one of the best clips on the forum, IMO Cheers
