Hello,
I'm currently a proud BareKnuckle pickups user, but I've recently bought a '91 Music Man Silhouette. It as a nice ash body and maple neck and fingerboard and is loaded with 2 Di Marzio PAF Pro.
I also own a Blade RH-4 (alder body, maple neck and ebony fingerboard) with a BKP Nailbomb in bridge position. I love the sound I have on this guitar with this pickup, so I think I'd go for another Nailbomb on my Silo.
I would also like to replace the Silo's neck humbucker.
I will use a 5 way switch and use split on both pickups, so I'm looking for a medium output pickup with a good sound when split. My Silo is very bright, so I think I don't need a too bright or harsh pickup.
I play in a hardcore punk band, but I'm also a huge fan of ska. Sometimes, I also play funk and blues, but I'm mainly a rock musician.
Here are the pickup I find interesting :
- Emerald
- Abraxas
- Black Dog
Could you help me chosing a pickup, and explain me how it my sound with my guitar ?
Thanks !
Greg

Holy Diver or Nailbomb
Just imagine a holy diver having the same sweet upper mids of the nailbomb but a bit of a darker high end, not quite as agressive bit more classic rock.. Great alternative to the NB but without straying too far and will probably be better voiced for a brighter guitar than the NB.
Surely thats the best suggestion?

Thanks for your reply James !
I'd probably go for a Nailbomb but I'm not sure what to chose to replace my neck humbucker. Any suggestion ?

try stay with the matched pairs they work really well.. i've found them to be the best solution.

Really ?! I'd like to play some ska,, blues, dub or rocksteady stuff on my neck pickup, and I'm not sure a Nailbomb will do the job.
I'd like to know a little more about the Emerald. Have you tried it ?

The Nailbomb neck is great for cleans, it's only around 8-10k ish I think it's not super hot.. I'd suggest the VHII neck thats lovely for cleans and matches the Nailbombs tone. Not tried the Emerald.
