$%&# yeah!

but the ESP was still better... probably one of the only guitars next to the JEM77BFP i've ever wished I had just bought instead of thought about breaking the savings.

Played a black one in Cornwall, can't remember where, a real ESP, reduced because some $%&#lump had scr@ped the bottom of it and chipped the paint work. It played so nicely and sounded so crisp... punchy and clean. Great guitar.

Screw that, they reissued the awesome RD! I wonder if they reissued the appalling tuning problems too?

Also, what was so special about this ESP Explorer then?  :?:

ESP still make them. Unfortunately they're not allowed to sell them to many countries outside of Japan.

It just was such an amazing improvement over the Gibson, really playable, great tuning stability. Great tone, MUCH better punch than the Gibson, which sounded dead and muddy too my ears. The quality was just so superior to the Gibson's that it was seriously a no-brainer.

the LTD-EX doesn't compare either. To 'dusty' sounding.

James Hetfield.... nicer explorer than the standard gibsons... looks better the pickup selector is placed towards the back.

I love the way explorers look but can't get used to how they hang on the strap. The neck ends up being horizontal and really awkward to play.  :(

That explorer is nice but I prefer the E2 colour scheme like the one Claudio from Coheed and Cambria uses.

I think ESP should sue Gibson for copying their improved Explorer.

Too bad it doesn't have sharper points the ESP had.

How much are these Gibbo's gonna cost? I know the Japanese EXP's are going from $2,000.- and more.

Just looks like gibson trying to get a James Hetfield sig, circa '86.

Better than a grynch or truckster, I'll grant you.

Yes - that look is popular
It is something I get asked to make a fair bit
We often use Sperzels & Tonepros (& Earvana too )

More info here in the specsheet (http://felineguitars.com/spec_sheets/None%20More%20Black%20Explorer2.htm).....sorry the pickups on this one aren't BKP!

Hate to disagree with everyone, but I much prefer a standard Explorer.  The control layout on this one looks completely wrong to me.  I like a scratchplate too.

The RD is cool though, in a hideously-ugly kind of way.

^ +1

I like the Korina Explorers best, but the standard model ain't far behind.

I got a Epi version and pimped it to satisfy my GAS.
