haha, i actually did think it looked a bit like an advertisement. If you opened that thread not knowing what BKP's were, you'd immediately close it because it looks like an advertisement.

In UG's defence, you wouldn't believe how many blatant advertising posts there are...
I didn't think it was advertising, but it had been reported before I got to see it, and didn't want to get a warning by posting in a reported thread...

EDIT: also the fact that it hasn't been closed would suggest the mods agree it's not advertising... EDIT: ok so i posted now.

This concept that being "overly positive" is "advertising" is utter bollocks. Would it be OK if you said "my Nailbomb is the best pickup I've ever owned, however on the downside one of the staples holding the box together was slightly askew"? :?
And anyway, surely a statement can only be "advertising" if the person making the statement has something to gain from it - because they're the manufacturer, a seller or distributor, or someone being paid to advertise the product or service. You're none of those things - just an enthusiastic customer.

UG is full of obnoxious opinionated little brats (with some obvious exceptions, Dave ;) )
As such it has some heavy-handed rules and an unpleasant and inflexible atmosphere.
Its why I stopped going there a couple of years ago. Give me the informed and laid back people here or the chaos of HC any day :lol:

^ ^I haven't been on UG in several years either, I wonder why? Most depressing forum I've ever used, god only knows why it's so popular. That said I hardly use this forum these days either. Suppose it's just lucky that it's still one of my FF homepage tabs.

Only place where I hang out in UG anymore is the Metal forum, I've become a 'regular' there so it's not that I get accused of every single mistake or joke I make
the metal forum community there is very strict towards n00bs and such but if you know the rules and come along with the people there, it's a great place :wink:

Well guys, I think this forum and the people here are much more friendly and much more helpful.... There at the UG you can never get as good and as helpfull replies as here...
after all, you are the ones using "the best pickups money can buy" (as I stated on the UG forum, hahaha), so you probably know whats best ahahaha

i was pretty surprised by the general reaction. there is the occasional valid point in the replies though.
pleased this forum isn't like that... before i heard about the BKP forum i was happy with dimarzios and a modller. while i still think that setup has some sort of advantages (cost for example), i've learnt so much about tone just by hanging out here from time to time. i actually enjoy playing the guitar now, rather than just knocking out a quick recording for a tune i was working on.
