We had an amazing Bass player in our band for the last few months, the guy was a machine, he'd picked up all the songs pretty much straight away. But it wasn't meant to be, and now, whoever tries to replace him is going to have to work really hard to fill his shoes, cos we were spoiled by having that level of skill in the band, hehe.
Ah well, if anyone from the Southwest here knows a Bass player in the Exeter area who might be interested, get them to send us a message on our myspace: http://www.myspace.com/baneofdeceit
Damn it!
Anyone else experienced this kind of thing? I think there should be some kind of support group....

My mate's band lost their drummer and have been searching for a new one for 2 months, they've finally found a guy - They went through loads of people to finally get one close enough to the original, but he's still not as good as the previous one =/

It's a nightmare! :x

Yeah I have been there. The rhythm section of a band is so crucial-with all due respect to lead guitarists ( an in one band I am one), the bass and drums are so often taken for granted and they are the difference btween a good and a great band. You just have to cast your net and hope you get the right guy.

The bassist in our cover band just quit as well, because he didnt want to pay £60 toward a new PA mixer

We lost a great bass player once. Classic rock n' roll thing; choked on vomit in his sleep. It wasn't his own vomit, though. This happened right after our drummer got struck by a case of spontaneous self combustion.
