I would love BKP if they did discounts for students. I know there's a few of us here, and since I've been at uni my 'buying new gear' charade seems to have come to an end - since all i can afford is beer.
I have an NUS card... can i have a discount on some unpolished nickel mules please? Students of sound surely need the best tone!
-
hmmm, might yet be a good reason to become a mature student...
-
like a 20% discount if you have a nus card?

......and a member of the foum of course
Actually, does it still count if your NUS card is 4 years out of date?

Why on earth would Tim just start selling pickups at 20% off, when he can sell them at the normal price and still find more than enough buyers? :S

because capitalism sucks! fight the system - we can bring it down!

because he can support more musicians that way and the word of BKPs will spread faster
-
because he wants to support the music of talented young musicians (students) loyal to his brand (forum members)
a cut down package, with no strings, plectrum, springs or screws for example.. just a few models, no custom options.

Capitalism Rules!! thats why we can get BKps for around £100 instead of £300.
It is an idea, but I think the whole point of BKPs is that they are NOT mainstream with 'cheap' models.
Would u expect to go to the Ritz and get a '2 meals for 6.50' option... no I think not.
Im a student, but I realize that some things u just have to pay for.

well maybe it does, maybe it doesn't... i dont happen to think so, but maybe the real problem is peoples greed.

i'm not a student and it looks like the guys were just fooling around, but i thought it was a nice idea. you wouldn't need packaging either, throw them in jiffy bag without the box. no ones talking about an 'all you can eat' type deal, bkp isn't kent armstrong as you say.
theres plenty of ways to make them a bit cheaper, without affecting quality or tim's profits too much.

As a hard working tax payer, I'm opposed to student discounts for BKPs.
Students deserve discounts on books, paper, pens, baked beans, cardigans, sandals, incense, Carlsberg Special Brew, Rizla paper & nothing else :)
You want BKPs? Get out of bed, get back to work, graduate & get a job!
:shakes head: The youth of today, always wanting something for nothing  sheesh  :)

Have you chaps heard of ebay...?! :P

theres been near to non on ebay lately
and as said we were only dreaming
-
there's normally at least two / three pups on there per week...
-
if it includes Young Scot Cards too im all for it. We Scottish students need good pickups at a fair price too!!

The average student would not pay extra for BKPs when they're happy with Stock or SD/Dimarz etc.

Even a cutdown model would still be more expensive than most.

I think the biggest reason against a student discount is how easy it is to obtain a fake NUS ID card.
What Tim should do is supply the tutors with BKP's cheap so their students are gagging for them :)
-
how about american student discounts? we're already getting killed enough in the exchange rate! quit complaining! :!:  :?:

Here is a famous quote that I love and consider applies to my guitars and BKP pickups too
"The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten"
Henry Royce (1863 - 1933) automobile manufacturer (co-founder of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars).
We are all money concious but sometimes getting the right product is more important and transcends financial considerations.
The difference in price may only be the cost of a round of drinks at the bar, but you may end up keeping the pickup 40 years
