Want one. yes please.
Question is though - will it be quiet enough for uni use through a 2x12 w/ V30 and G12H?
Also - i dont know of anyone on here who owns one, or has tried one, but I'm looking for something very dynamic, with a bit of plexi-style gain - covering pretty much all marshall bases from ACDC -> motley crue levels of gain. Really something that does what my jcm800 can, but smaller and quieter, and maybe a little bit more dynamic.
Is this the wonder-amp i'm looking for?
P.S. Don't reccomend me Cornfords or anything because i definately can't afford them... the nano's as far as im prepared to go pricewise
-
I have one- and they're great for plexi and even vox like tones. Although only 1 watt you'll be suprised how loud they are when fully cranked- really need to crank them for plexi/early marshall sounds. If you're after JCM levels of gain etc you'll need an overdrive or treble boost both so it just as well that the nano loves to be pounded by pedals!
As for a quiet practice amp, thing again- I can get a better tone at lower volumes with my Cornford Harly........doh!
-
i have a THD Hotplate which should manage volume okay without too much degradation - being such a low powered amp anyway, and a few overdrives so thats no problem :D
Any chance of nano clips?
-
rob/kilby has one too, i think.

Yeah I have a nano, (so does blue).
Theyre actually more versatile than just plexi tones, they also do fender / vox tones with the right setting and the volume down a bit
Theyre loud little feckers, you have to turn up the volume to get that plexi tone. They cetainly can go head to head with a 15W vox modeler in the volume stakes (it's light years ahead in the tone stakes though)
I cant turn up the little bugger in the house over half way or the wife gets really pissed (and thats through a 1x10). Though it could be my playing
If you have a hotplate or even just an L-pad attenuator I doubt that you will regret the purchase of a Nano, mine was the best £200 I ever spent.
As for clips I have no mikes and my playing sucks, but I will speak to a mate tomorrow night and see if he will oblige
-
ah i forgot about blue having one too...

I think that someone posted a Nano clip with rebel yells a while ago, cant remember the name. Kilby, where did you get it for £200? I was sure they were at least £300-400 last time I checked, or is that just my imagination? I was thinking about buying one then getting a 1x12 at xmas or something for a uni amp - I can probably have my amp a bit louder than most as I'm on the end of the building and ground floor, so I only have 1 person next to me (who's a guitarist anyway) and no one below me :D
edit - found the clip, it sounds awesome - http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7327&highlight=rebel+yell

^that clip just gave me an orgasm - just the sorta tone im looking for. yeah i have a hotplate so i should be fine with it :D
Where did you guys get yours? any good deals out there i might have missed?
You guys have no idea how much im looking forward to christmas if i can find someone who wants to buy this for me! I've been playing through a marshall micro-stack i found at my girlfriend's house, and it is APPAULING to say the least. I'm sorta glad it's run out of battery

Dakine also has one he bought over in TX
I went for the used route (can't think why anybody would sell the little blighter) and got mine from Charlie Chandlers Guitar Experience.
At the time they had 2 one for 210 (I think I paid 205) and another for 260 (I bought the cheaper one naturally and it was a limited edition purple one)
Vintage & Rare are looking for £325
Though TBH if anybody has friends or relations in the US I would say import from there as it should be real cheap

quiet enouhg for res? I don't know if this applies to all schools, but at my school, volume doesnt matter unless its quiet hours or exam period.
I have a tendancy to blast my marshall 30th anniversary stack around 6-7pm every night hahahah... sometimes around 11:30 on weeknds... and if I need low volume, i just hit the low vol compensation switch and it gets good again
Anyways, most people dont mind if you have a big amp if you're not a dick about it.

The trouble with most big amps is that they take up too much space, and sound shitee at low volumes.

i have a low volume compensation button
tightens and increases volume on bass, focuses the mids, and takes away the fizzy highs. its pretty sexy. But i rarely use it, because nobody cares when i run it at a decent volume.
-
Yeah, most dont have that switch though, at least from my experience - I know mine doesnt! Dunno about you but I'd start to get a bit pissed off if there was someone cranking their amp in the room next to me every day.
Anyway, Nanos just look cool :P

extra spicey!!
yes, i have one. i've tried it through a couple of speakers now, and in fact the first time my thoughts were "oh no, what have i done?!" as it really sounded pretty cr@p! but through the speaker in my Matamp AB15 it sounds magnificent! and a lot louder than 1/2 a watt has any right to. you can get a remarkable variety of tones with the switches on the front, and as well as speakers it pays to experiment with different pedals. the first overdrive i tried through it sounded like a wet fart! but my treble booster gives one of the best tones i've ever heard. actually, i haven't plugged it in for a couple of months, i must give it a blast this evening :D
-
Haven't played mine for ages- had a play last night and really forgot how good they are. Flat out with a treble booster or BB pre amp- totally awesome. What was really interesting tho' was I played it clean far longer than overdriven- Strat with MMilks just shimmer.....
I'll get round to do some clips again soon.

for home playing there aint much better IMO;
