Nice collection mate. You don't see many GSG V's around, and you have a great 1 I'm sure :)

I really like the look and sound of V's, but I dunno if they're 'right' for me. Being short and fat, I doubt a V would look right

epiphone goth v. upgraded with gibson dirty fingers from the '80s. an original floyd rose, and a lovely fret dress from feline

I've been tempted to do that to my Gothic V, but it's sooo neck heavy I'm worried that a Floyd rout would make it worse (or does the weight of the Floyd offset the routed out wood?)

Either way, nice collection :)

the postive comments are increasing my pride levels :) the epi '58 and steinberger are my favourites for sentimental reasons, and because i play them so often, i'm very used to how they handle. steinberger is absolutley TOP for portability - fits in a suitcase.

the epiphone already had a floyd fitted from the factory, but it was a slighty smaller than an OFR. feline did a nice job of extending the rout - you can't tell whats been done. didn't expect it, but the OFR sounds considerably nicer than the epi one.

regarding the weight distribution - its hard to say... it is different from the '58, but its hard to say how. its totally playable anyway! i usually rest the bottom wing against my leg, so weight distribution isn't too much of a factor.

I would guess the weight of the Floyd is probably at least as much as the weight of the wood removed, but of course you're also losing the old bridge and tailpiece.

Are the tuners Grovers?  A set of Sperzels would be much lighter.  Or you could replace the tuner buttons with ebony or plastic ones to reduce the weight.  I've done that on a few neck-heavy guitars and it works a treat.

Great selection of Vs by the way, gwEm!  :D  Reminds me of that picture of Rudolf Schenker with all his Vs laid out on a lawn.

Yeah, mines a Gibson Gothic with a tune-o-matic/tailpiece (one of the early ones with a decal of Orville Gibson on the back of the headstock).

Worst guitar purchase I ever made :( (PXed a nice Explorer for it - WTF was I thinking? :!:) - a total dud, I still can't decide whether BKPs would be a waste on it....

I love my Epi V so much that it's just waiting on a matched pair of Gibson Classic 57's (yeah yeah I know.........but I've played a Custom Shop Gibbo Korina V with them in and it was unbelievable so I'm not one to mess about with a winning formula. ) and a complete re-wire job to Gibson Historic spec.  Great players guitar, and I just simply love playing it live.

It behaves itself a LOT better since I deposited the Epi tuners in the bin and replaced them with 18:1 Grover Rotomatics!

I got this Novemember 1981 Greco "Super Sound" FV600 Flying V last night! In almost mint condition, just one ding, and has the original Greco case. I'm very very pleased.

Its the oldest guitar I own, and has a real personality. I was thinking orginally of some high gain ceramic pickups, but I think that goes against the spirit of the guitar. Might go for something vintage.

The woods are much higher quality than my Gibson faded, however I think the workmanship on the Gibson is a little better. So certainly in the same league quality wise.

Hardware is top notch quality... Except the tuners, which keep the guitar in tune very well, but they seem a little flimsy. They say "Greco Deluxe" on them though, and I'm loathed to change them.

Electricwise, the pots are a litte scratchy, but I sense they are decent items. The switch and jack have no issues. The pickups actually sound pretty good, they are in the Seymour Duncan sort of league. Fit very well to the guitar, I guess 7-8k A5 style. They are less hot and more compressed than my Riff Raffs and lack a bit of life. Nothing what so ever wrong with them though.

So planned mods: Jim Dunlop strap locks for sure, new tuners maybe, new pots maybe, A5 mules perhaps...

Mighty fine, I wondered what you'd bought!  :D

I like the colour, obviously (and the witch hat knobs!).  I see they've got strap buttons on both wings, I did that on my white Edwards.

You are undoubtedly BKP's king of Vs, gwEm!

All of those are sweet as f*ck...

I especially dig the Greco.

The Epi is real nice too.

Exactly, so it stands up straight, without chipping any paint off the lower wing.  No guitar stand required.
