Title: Whats a good boost/od for a marshall 20 watter??
Post by: riffpowers on October 21, 2007, 10:17:50 PM
Hi guys
I've been thrashing a cornell 18/20 for the last few months. Its a great amp, but the problem is it sound sgreat full up, but its too loud to play like that, even with the band!! It also has a tendency to be a bit too brought for me too, I like sludgy riffing!!

I wanted to get a pedal so I could get some fat drive out of it when its not full up.

I have a ts9, its great for leads but I don;t like it for a leave on pedal. I had a keeley bd2, I didn;t like it, it was too gritty and bright for me. I have a D*A*M red rooster (for sale!!) it sounds great with the amp but its got such a massive output that I might as well switch it off an dcrank the amp , its the same kind of volume!!!

Any ideas??!!

I have one, but would still like to try a pedal.

MXR Distortion+, in the loop. This is easily the best way of bringing out the best in Marshalls - it stays clean, doesn't change the tone, but enhances all good qualities. You won't regret it

Sounds good, and I'm hoping the volume isn't OTT like the rooster??

Any clips anywhere of it??Is it a nice fat sound rather than a bright sound??

It's a bright sound, and a basic one at that.

An old Guv'nor or MI Audio Crunch Box would get my vote for the "stack in a box" tone.  Or the new HT Dual....
