Valve Jnr vs Peavey Valve King Royal 8
« on: October 26, 2007, 01:29:30 PM »
I have a much modded Epi Valve Jnr, and I love it, for what I paid for it and the ease of the mods I have done, its a great little amp and deafeningly loud as well. But therein lies the problem, I cant get that cruncy tone, at home volume. Sure in a suitable place, when I can crank it up it sounds awesome, but modding it to have a master volume, is a) a lot more involved, and b) according to the sites that know about stuff about this amp, not that effective.

So I was thinking of getting myself a Peavey Valve King Royal 8 for lower volume crunch, as it has a master vol on it. I was just wondering if anyone on this forum had any experience of these little amps, and how they compared to my Epi VJ?

the one i tried might have been faulty, but the gain knob didn't seem to do all that much, i still had to turn it up to get much crunch- that was with a strat to be fair.

+1

I own a valve king 112 (50w) which is great clean, much better than the Tiny Terror at clean, but the TT is far better at gain. If you can afford it try out a TT for low power rock goodness.
