well, we've all bought daft things on the spur of the moment!  some are stupid and embarrassing, some turn out to be inspired!  i'll let you decide on this one...

in case you're wondering, it's a 4 cd box set of the history of heavy metal, packaged in a little Marshall head with a real knob that goes up to 11!

History of HM in 4 discs sounds ambitious - what's on it?

Thanks Henk, saves me a lot of typing!  :D

and yes, it is very cool!  i'm afraid i just couldn't resist it.  another US/UK thing here, you'll notice the price works out at about £30 to £35, but you know if it was on sale here it'd be about £65!!

Yeah sorry, I wasn't expecting you to type them all out!

Great track listing - not necessarily the very best tracks by each and every band, but wall-to-wall good stuff nonetheless.  Rhino do excellent compilations!

Not that much I like there :( but the box is cool

I just find with these rock compilations etc (like 'guitar' orientated releases) that they have no particular structure, and always find 5 good songs per disc(IMO), evenly spread out, which ruins the experience of listening to a disc as you would an album, from one end to the other.

I've got at least 40 of 'em - but quite a few are on vinyl, which I can't play any more.  :)
