Is the Boss GT-8 capable of switching amp channels, say like the TC Electronics G System can? I'm looking for a multi FX that can do this.

I am not sure. Check out www.bossgtcentral.com they are very helpful with the GT8. I highly recommend the '8, it won't leave my rig for a while.
