I beg to differ (and lord knows my hearing aint what it could be). I can plug my PRS SCT in (with 25" scale) and then my SC245 and tell one heck of a difference. Thats just scale length and less wood (although one is nitro and one lacquesr). I know most is the amp but I CAN tell a pretty big difference with scale and pups myself.

I'll bet YOU can, but could someone else?  The trem will have an effect there too, plus the scale length/body thickness you've already mentioned.

My LP sounds a bit brighter than my SG, but it's not a Jazz vs Metal thing.  More a Lizzy vs 'DC thing  ;)

Lizzy vs AC/DC is a bit tonal jump. I doubt many would perceive it in a band context but wod to wood on same amp/setting it is def. different enough (and I am not that aurally gifted :))

Yeah, sorry about the Lizzy/DC comparison.  Not exactly what I was trying to say!  To the casual ear, both are rock though  ;)

I guess it all comes down to how finely tuned your ears are I guess.  Mine know what I like, and what I don't, but I can't define or explain subtle nuances very well

I guess what I am trying to say, having two guitars of same manufacturer, and same overal shape/design makes a comparrison somewhat easier and to my ears the scale def. makes a difference. Of course trem, finish, weight and pups play a part but you can def. tell, which to me is cool.

The guy who did the SC245 demo is a fantastic player. Nice to hear the riff from Lonely Train by Black Stone Cherry too (around 2:25) - it's given me a clue as to how to play it!

The sound is something else though, even on a Youtube vid. God knows how good it must sound in the room. Dakine, I can see now why you've been singing the praises of your 245 so loudly, those are some of the best tones I've heard.

I really shouldn't watch videos like that though. I've now got GAS for a Tremonti Sig, an SC250 and an SC245! Dammit.  :(

the Tremonti and 250 are exactly same guitar except trem, and both sound ALOT 'meatier' btw, combination of pups/scale length. Both excellent but not quite as classic ya know ;) Just buy em all! :)

Hahaha, if only I could! That would be  all my Singlecut-related needs covered forever. At around £2,000 a pop, might take some time, but I think I may have accquired a new goal - ownership of all three.

Now, what can I sell...
Warpigs.

sorry hunter, I think you're stumped.

the Mira sounds phenomenal, the coil tap works very well. the single coil sounds are good but not strat type sounds due to the the body, wood , neck etc.

but at the price I'd rather have a humbucking guitar and a single coil guitar worth £500 each and I would have acheived the same goal. well I already have these so cannot justify buying one.

you're just going to have to try one.  :D

I have.. my wife bought me a Singlecut for a birthday several years ago, just after I had been talking to a friend about not liking the shape!  I also don't like it when they spray the back black - it is like they want to hide something in the wood that they used.  Anyway, this was a 10 top, gold harware, green.  I didn't like the sound of the guitar plugged in and I wasn't really happy with the neck shape.  I ended up taking it back and getting a 1993 Artist II and a Gibson J-185.
So many pickups, so little time

sorry you did'nt like yours Phil.
Neither of mine have painted backs (one piece gorgeous wood) and neither are 10 tops but look stunning.
Taste is very subjective but for me they are a great playing/gigging guitar.
