i still want the aggression and punchiness of the  miracle man but a bit darker and a bit less tight.

would the nailbomb fit the bill
?

its going to be going into a basswood / maple superstrat.

I agree....

Btw I'm curious... what would it sound like if The Nailbomb was ceramic? Which BKP would sound the closest?
I wish women were like pickups - if they lack output, you sell them... or ask Tim to rewind them :D

you can do it yourself if you already have a Miracle Man - just buy an A5 magnet from Tim, they're £7.50 last time I got one.

if you don't think you're up to the job, send it to Tim - I doubt he'd charge much, it's not a hard job.

Pin from SikTh uses a ceramic Nailbomb in the bridge. I've got a set of Nailbombs with a ceramic bridge in the post at the moment (damn Royal Mail and their postal strikes-my pickups are caught in the month-long backlog :(). When they arrive I'll let you guys know how they sound.

i think he would lose the garantee
and there's a little problem about it
he would need to make thinner side spacers cause the ceramic magnet that tim uses is thicker than the usual

well... i tried it in a duncan custom
the ceramic duncan custom has a similar kind of EQ voicing (strong bass, few mids, lot of highs), but with less output than the miracle man
the alnico 8 took a bit of brightness, added a some nice low mids and made the highs smoother
in PAF type humbuckers like the ibanez super 70 it fills that PAF mid hollow with modern a low midrange and tighter bass
the added mids usually make it sound brighter than alnico 5, but darker than a ceramic
it still doesn't sound as powerful than a ceramic, especially if the ceramic magnet was oversized, but you'll lose less power than with alnico 5
