Finally recorded my NJ Warlock! Nailbomb content
« on: July 26, 2009, 11:01:48 PM »
OK so some of you may be aware that all my recordings so far have been recorded with Bluey, my Bronze series Warlock with the Nailbomb bridge pup. Now that my NJ series Warlock has been 'bombed and tuned to drop C# (yeah finally worked out how to detune a Floyd, so simple!) I thought I'd post up a sneak peek of a new B.o.D song I am working on. I just completed the music for it, so I thought I'd post it up now without the vocals done so you can hear the pups in action.

Enjoy!

Sounds great though my usual monitors are out of commission at the moment.
Fancy sharing that XT patch with us? 8)
I see a rainbow rising
Look there on the horizon
And I'm coming home

Cheers all!

Aye, can do 'Taff! You'll have to have the metal amps pack added in though, it uses their Engl Powerball patch.

i bought a bc rich wmd warbeast last year and although i love the guitar ive always been unhappy with the rockfield pickups it came with. ive had warpigs, painkillers and miracle man sets lined up as possible replacements, but this clip has blown me away really. i never really had nailbomb on the shortlist before so many thanks for putting this clip up!

kudos to your playing and track too. inspirational. :)

what kinda style covers have you got? one reason i was leaning towards warpigs was also the black allen bolt covers will look awsome in my warbeast. i dont really want to put stock black open covers in the guitar.

Cheers Mod!

Well the set I have are with Gold covers, with one row of poles showing. I didn't actually buy them for this guitar, they were for my first self-build project but I seem to have messed the neck pocket up rather badly. So whilst I am waiting to earn some money for some more wood (or maybe just some epoxy to try and put it right) I took the stock Rockfields out and chucked my 'Bombs in for a laugh. Considering I have a trans-grey burst over quilted maple top and aged nickel hardware, the gold pups actually look rather nice!

For my next set though I am getting normal, uncovered Pups. I know that sometimes the sound can be affected ever so slightly, so my next set are going to be as unadulterated as possible. I am aiming for my next Axe to be made from Korina, body and neck. not sure whether to go Ebony or Rosewood for the fingerboard but am defo going Painkiller as I want to get that nice middy, almost "Djent" tone.

One thing to bear in mind on the track though is that I had to work for the tone. I basically had to quad the guitars, meaning that the 2 guitar parts you hear are both doubled, otherwise it sounds a bit thin and one-dimensional. Having said that, it IS through an amp Modeler, rather than an actual amp, so don't take the quadding to mean that the Pups aren't as awesome as they sound. It's just that any amp modeller (POSSIBLY with the exception of the Axe FX which I have heard amazing things about) is always going to make your guitar sound thinner and, dare I say, a little soulless compared to plugging in to a proper rig.

Nailbombs will always be my staple pup, unless like previously mentioned I want to achieve something different. They really are very versatile, you don't have to be an Adam D nut, shredding and chugging along to your fave metal band. They do pristine cleans and awesome Blues crunch too, along with a plethora of other sounds. They really are my fave Pup so far.

If there's anything else I can help with please don't hesitate to ask.

Taff - Did you d/l that patch? How are you getting on with it?  :)

[Edit] Holy poop! My XT tone has been downloaded 101 times and people have rated it 5 stars! Awesome. In the grand scheme of things I guess it's not that big a deal, I'm just happy someone rated something of mine over 2 stars.
