Anyone tried TonePros Kluson tuners?
« on: November 18, 2007, 10:44:48 PM »
Anyone tried the new(ish) TonePros Kluson tuners, especially the locking ones?  I'm wondering how they compare in terms of feel, stability etc with other brands, especially Gotohs.

I'm thinking of getting a set for a guitar which has 10mm (or 25/64") holes in the headstock, so I need tuners with "bolt" style bushings (I know you can get conversion bushings, but on the ones I've tried the centre hole seems to be over-large for Gotoh tuner posts (I know, I'm a fussy git...   )).

The locking Klusons seem to have a simple device that just screws onto the top of the post, like the old locking Schallers.  They look fairly ugly, but if they work well and don't weigh too much I'll give them a go.  Or I might just try the non-locking variety... but I do prefer locking tuners...

So, anyone  :?:

Those tonepros look nice. I like the 16:1 ratio especially !
I'm gently looking around for a set for my MIJ Tolai LP. Those look like they might be just right.

They look really nice Phil - I'll try them if the Kluson tuners on my LP fall to pieces again (on my second set now).

Otoh, it might be a better idea to try them on my LP junior since the tuners on there now feel a bit stiff and awkward to tune.

As a TonePros stockist I have fitted them to a number of guitars and they perform really well and they do feel great - better than some of the other Kluson type heads on the market

They come in either the push in bushing or the screw in front version so no problem either way in terms of fitting your guitar.
