Plain maple? Oh god.... please, Birdseye!  :D

Birds eye or flame/quilt neck is a definate addition to this........but not quite yet, as quite simply I'm not going to have the cash for a killer neck and all the components at the mo.  I already have the neck, so it would be silly not to use it.

It was either buy the body and a killer neck and have it unplayable for a few months; or use the neck I have and buy components and have a working guitar by Christmas.

Ordered all my components yesterday.......

It's amazing how many extra little bits you need for a Strat over say a Les Paul.
Scratchplate screws, switch screws, string trees, etc etc!
Got it all now though I think

Thats pretty much why i dont want to assemble a strat but rather did a Tele. Im very interested to see how all turns out, would you be able to make some snapshots along the way?

Youll definately get something unique, probably very worthwile to delay ordering a new neck, this way you can decide which shape/radius while playing which is always the best thing IMO.

I'll do another one of my 'how to' things if you want like I did with my guide on how to re-wire a 335?

The first thing to do will be to apply the Fender Stratocaster logos to the headstock, and get some laquer over them before the body turns up at the end of next week.  The decals will hopefully turn up tomorrow, so I should have a week or so to get a good few coats of laquer on the headstock before re-polishing it.

Hey Jonesy,

I'll be building a Warmoth strat too quite soon, depending on when I can find a suitable neck from their showcase.

I reckon a heavy birdseye neck on that body you've snagged would be fantastic.

Good luck!  :D

That would be great! I still have to rewire my '70s Washburn HB35 MIJ, but i know it will be a breeze with that guide of yours.. 8)
