First gig with the Aftermath - first impressions
« on: December 08, 2010, 05:46:41 PM »
Hey all.

First gig last night with the Aftermath bridge in my WezV Vociferator multiscale baritone.

Previously I'd been using a black dog in the bridge, and more recently a miracle man.

First thing: OH MY GOD! This pickup is totally totally unforgiving! Brilliant! Except now I need to practise a lot more... but hey this is a good thing.

There is a lot less bass compared with the miracle man, and I'm also running less bass on the amp and taking out the low low frequencies with an MXR 10-band EQ in the loop of my 5150-II. The result in the band context is a much, much more coherent and articulate sound. I am so happy with the sound of this pickup, too - it's super aggressive in the mids, which I run high on the amp and boost a little too in the loop. Even with very low gain on the amp, and hence a really quite open sound, the tone is pretty crushing.

There's a review of the gig here: http://www.musicinoxford.co.uk/2010/12/08/13gauge-riot-house-crysis-the-wheatsheaf-oxford-07122010/

Lots learned from this, and I'm going to enjoy building on it and tweaking the tone to be still more aggressive!

PS clips may follow in due course, depending on lots of factors, including whether I have any time to put any up :)

Congrats! Glad you found your sound, although you play the wrong guitar, since it's not a tele.
