you wouldn't use the meat knife on crusty bread but, equally, the serrated knife and straight edge knife aren't going to go through raw meat as quickly

Alba in Whitecross Street (near Barbican) is nice - a bit of a trek from Westminster though.

I went to really nice one just off Russell Square several times when i was in London  2 years ago. On Southampton Street, called Trattoria Verdi. It was very good, and Italians were eating there, which is always a good sign!

When I was in London I went to have dinner with three italians that made the same course that I did...
Was in a mall very near the Finchley Road station of the tube.. We have ate pizzas and they said it was really italian pizzas... I believe there is served other kinds of italians food!

In times past I would have reccomended the Pollo Bar in Soho (next to the theatre that has Spamalot playing in it ATM)is no longer in existance, great food but very inexpensive (the best Italian food I have ever had out side of Italy)

It was also a hang out for Syd Barrett (though I didn;t know that when I frequented the place)

I could reccomed a couple of decent fish based resturants though
Goodbye London !

To quote Alexei Sayle - 'Does that mean Little Chef's good because it's full of English people?'
