Its a little bit expensive I think, but I got in touch with the seller, and they are willing to take something off.

I'd like a more accurate '58 than my Epiphone for VH2s or Rebel Yells. In Tokyo I saw a Gibson '82 reissue, which is meant to be pretty close, but it was 2 or 3 times the price of this.

Any comments from anyone, looks really close to an Ibanez Rocket Roll from the same period.

I looked into rocket rolls a while back, And I'm sure I saw a page where a guy got one of the earliest greco Vs (quite similiar to this) but had to modify it because the neck pocket angle was off. It was probably just the first few weeks of production, but I wouldn't spend £600 on a model of guitar I didn't know well from the other side of the world.

On the other hand, the seller seems good, and if you knew someone over there who could try it, go for it.

I tend to agree with your points plastercaster. Logically, I should go for another guitar shape like a Les Paul, but my V addiction is pretty strong. It is a lot of money for a guitar I can't try. I imagine they'll be import duty also, though as you say the seller looks good.

The Ibanez is wrong in many ways. I used to have one years ago. The biggest difference is the jack placement, also I'm not sure if the body isn't smaller (the reissue Gibson's in the early 80's are!). The other thing is the body wood grain is straight, not 2 pieces in a V shape.

The Greco looks like it has been in the wars a bit too - what is the filler plug in the lower V that looks like a jack socket was there? It seems a lot to me, but I haven;t been tracking the prices of flying V's.

I really like the '58 style too, but I find the multi-piece sen body on this one a bit off-putting. The grain isn't matched very well either. Korina would be infinitely preferable.

And it does seem expensive, although maybe it's a good price for that model, I have no idea..

thanks for the advice. it looks like it was made in the ibanez factory, and a later owner has moved the jack socket to be gibson accurate.

you're all right, it is one or two hundred pounds too much.

pleased i posted here, i'm going to skip it. sometimes its better not to act from the heart.
