Final Decision for Gibson Les Paul Custom
« on: January 12, 2008, 08:14:04 AM »
Hey,

I think im going to get a calirated set of Miracle Mans for my Les Paul... I play mainly downtuned, shreddy Melodic Death Metal (In Flames, Lamb Of God etc...) Just want to confirm with you guys if this is a good choice?

Some people also say the Miracle Man/Cold Sweat isa good option as well...what do you think is better for my style? I think the main thing is tight bottom end, note clarity and good mids....oh and good pinch harmonics (and i would quite the like the neck pickup to have good cleans...)

Please help me make the final decision! Thanks

By the way, to give you an idea of the sound i want, i was previously looking at EMG 81/85s but decided BKPs would be better!

The Miracle Man is very 'thrash' imo, too scooped for my tastes.  For more mids, maybe a Painkiller would be a better option.

I know people say the MM is the EMG81 equivalent, but I don't hear it at all.

umm okay.... anyone else say 'no' about the Miracle Mans? Mind you, Lamb Of God have an awesome 'scooped' sound do they not? And, i was looking at the emg 81 for the bridge of my les paul before BKP... however if the Miracle Man is the equivalent of the 81, i'd rather something more like the emg 85 in the neck... any suggestions...cold sweat?

A Miracle Man sounds like it'd be great for you. But, you really can't ignore the Painkiller, ceramic Warpig and maybe even a ceramic Nailbomb (I have one in my PGM - there's a clip in the player's section).

If you haven't already, email or call Tim. He knows his pickups like noone else can, and his advice is always incredible.

I like that combination MM & CS, I believe that Tim has MM set on one of his LPs, he does covers of BS & Ozzy O, I do not know, yet of anybody using a Painkiller on a LP, somebody my show up any minute, also you my want to ask Tim. The gents around here are pretty much accurate most of the time. Good luck.

miracle man will fit your style and your guitar PERFECTLY
it's not scooped, just V equalized
you won't regret
but i don't believe that cold sweat neck matches miracle man output
maybe a nailbomb or painkiller neck
Riff Raff, Mules, Black Dog, VHII's, Cold Sweat

When I think thrash, I think Painkillers or Nailbombs myself.
Real men turn their volume to 11!

Rebel Yells + Les Paul = the Ultimate Rock Pickup.
