Suhr vs Anderson vs Vigier
« on: January 22, 2008, 08:13:25 AM »
Hi, so i've narrowed down the choices to either a Suhr Standard Custom (to Guthrie Govan's specs!), an Anderson Drop Top Custom or a Vigier Excalibur Custom.

I'm looking to play jazz fuion stuff on it - the kind o fsound i want is similar to that of Shawn Lane, Holdsworth and Govan...so i guess smooth, warm and versatile...

What do you guys think?

All 3 are good.

Personally I wouldn't say that Anderson is quite as good as Suhr, and Vigier is a slightly different style - So what you're really looking at is Vigier vs Suhr...

But bear in mind that a good Suhr is over 3k if I remember right...

Personally, a good Excalibur Custom is what I'd go for..

this is probably not very helpful but you can't go wrong with any of those. It just comes down to what suits you best which only you can decide.

Not sure where you are but Sounds Great in Manchester will have some Andersons and Shur's in and maybe the odd Vigier.

If it was me I would go with either the Shur or Anderson purely because I think they would be easier to re-sell and hold their value better.

don't forget tyler. I preferred the tyler i tried to the suhr i tried (though obviously trying one of each is hardly scientific).

Also, at that kind of money you could get a custom-made guitar by legra, feline etc for likely a lot less cash. I know my legra was over £1000 cheaper than the tyler i tried, much more expensive contruction (neck-thru versus bolt-on and already with BKPs stock etc.) and i prefer my legra.

definitely worth considering.

Another vote for custom

You get up to that sort of cash and you can get exactly what you want with perfect quality with enough change to buy a high end head.

(I went with Legra and love it)

I've played a Vigier and it sounded incredibly thin, it played amazing though but the tone was poor, sounded like a bad Ibanez.
